The California Highway Patrol is hosting a series of driver safety classes for Bay Area teens from Napa to San Jose at several locations throughout April.
A local “Start Smart” education class will be given this Wednesday (April 2) from 7-9 p.m. at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center in San Ramon.
The CHP’s “Start Smart” program is a teen driver safety course designed to teach young people safe driving habits.
CHP officers will discuss traffic collision avoidance techniques, collision causing factors, driver and parent responsibilities, and seat belt usage.
Additionally, testimonies will be provided by officers who have investigated fatal collisions involving teens, and by family members who have lost love ones in traffic collisions.
According to the CHP, traffic collisions are the leading cause of death for Americans between 15 and 20 years old.

Thank you for bringing this class to this area. Would CHP consider offering Friday evening classes or during school breaks for those students taxed with lots of AP classes and other extracurricular activities (which also help us get into certain colleges)
