Danville residents will have the opportunity to mingle with and get to know Danville police officers as part of a new community engagement program that starts Thursday morning.

The “Coffee and Cocoa with the Cops” series is a way for Danville police to meet the community members that they are protecting on a daily basis.

“The majority of interaction with police offers involved an emergency of one kind or another” police chief Steve Simpkins said.

“We invite community members to join us to share concerns, ask questions, talk about what’s happening in their neighborhood or simply get to know the officers who serve Danville,” the chief added.

The community program will be held from 7-9 a.m. Thursday at Christy’s Donuts located at 436 Diablo Road.

“Coffee and Cocoa with the Cops” will also take place:

– April 14, 7-9 a.m., at Starbucks at 11000 Crow Canyon Road

– April 15, 9-11 a.m. at Peet’s Coffee at 435 Railroad Ave.

– April 19, 9-11 a.m. at Starbucks at 730 Camino Ramon
