Michael William Rogers
Dec. 12, 1959-May 23, 2014
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael William Rogers, 54, on May 23, 2014. After a long illness, Mike passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Throughout his life and the difficulties of illness, Mike impressed everyone with his generous and loving spirit.
Born December 12, 1959 in Los Angeles, Mike grew up in Honolulu Hawaii, participating in Boy Scouts, basketball and tennis, and was fascinated with the Apollo space missions. BLUE and GOLD ran through Mike's veins, beginning with Punahou School, from which he graduated in 1977. He then attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating first in his class with a Chemical Engineering degree. After a brief career with Chevron, he was hired by Sitka, which was acquired by Sun Microsystems. He left Sun in 2004 and pursued opportunities with several start ups over the past ten years.
Mike was a dedicated Cal Berkeley fan, GO BEARS!, attended basketball and football games and was active in alumni events. He was a lover of life and spending time with friends. The fiestas he threw at the Lair and his parties at home were epic and legendary. His many pastimes included wine tasting, traveling (especially to Italy), the theatre, opera and spending time with the people he loved. Forever in our hearts, Mike was an extraordinary man, husband, father, brother and friend.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife, Cristi Fee; sons Cameron Rogers, Christian Nahaolelua and Kolu Rombouts; daughter Calli Rombouts; all of Pleasanton; and two sisters, Jan (Craig) Dean of Glenwood Springs CO and Stacey (Stuart) Freeman of Lakewood CO.
