Coffee chat on a cloudy day

The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting at Blackhawk Plaza's grand opening of Starbucks on Jan. 24. Local business leaders came out to mingle - and to enjoy the free caffeine - while welcoming one of three recently opened new stores in the plaza, which also include G.R. Doodle Bug and White House Black Market.

The new stores are part of a multi-million-dollar renovation that will boast new exterior facades, mood lighting, outdoor and indoor fireplaces and music in the plaza. The first phase of renovation began Monday on the south facade, which faces the movie theater. The revamp will make store fronts visible from that side, which will allow shoppers to "know what's going on in the inside from the outside," said Tricia Wilkalis, plaza manager.

The revamp is on schedule to be completed by summer 2008 and will feature 15 new tenants, including high-end casual clothing store Anthropologie, which is run by Urban Oufitters Inc. "Anthropologie is adding to the buzz," Wilkalis said.
