Perspective - February 1, 2008

Asked at Starbucks at Danville Square

Where would you cut the budget at your school?

I think it will be a great day when the schools have enough money and the military has to hold a bake sale to buy missiles. You do see a lot of U.S. military recruiters at school. It's kind of weird. It's kind of a subconscious thing on campus. I'd cut the military and put the money back into schools because education is very important.

I think a lot of money goes to sports. Some of the money can go to the performing arts. A lot of programs in our school such as choir, drama, dancing have to go on tours. If you can't afford to go, you can't take the course.

Some of the food is gross and thrown away. They just waste it. They need to monitor the foods.

I don't want sports to be cut. It's a good thing. I don't know what you would cut. Move more money for the performing arts. The campus could be nicer. There is a trash can that really smells.

We could save money by cutting on cafeteria food. Most kids prefer to go off campus anyway. It's decent. A lot of money could be saved by letting kids make their own choices. Our school is in downtown.
