Oratorical competitors well prepared
The American Legion Post 246 of Danville hosted the ninth District High School Oratorical Competition at the Veterans' Hall earlier this month, between the January winners from Post 246 and Lafayette Post 517. The format was a prepared oration on some phase of the Constitution followed by an assigned topic regarding a specific clause, section or amendment.
The winner was Lucas Duplancic representing Miramonte High School; the runner-up was George Emmons of California High School. Duplancic continued to the next competition.
"The contest was extremely competitive which presented a very difficult decision for the judges," said organizer Ron Roe. "Both contestants were extremely well prepared in both knowledge and presentation."
