SRVHS sports wrapup

Men's Lacrosse

The Wolves prevailed over rival Monte Vista on Tuesday night last week. San Ramon led throughout all four quarters and ended the game with a winning score of 15-8. Seniors Pat Sornsin and Tom Reyda scored 4 points, while senior John Brereton and sophomore Ross Rudow each scored 2. The team played Amador in an away game on Friday night and lost, 8-4. The Men's Lacrosse record now boasts 10 wins, 4 losses.

Women's Lacrosse

San Ramon played Monte Vista in an away game Tuesday night. The Wolves were defeated by their No. 1 rivals, 11-6, although they showed a lot of determination. Christine Austin played good defense and goalie Katherine Herzog displayed immense skill. Casey Bowles and Kyun Saiidnia stood out as well. The girls played Amador at home Friday night and lost, 14-8. San Ramon's league record is now 2 wins and 5 losses. The girls are planning on making a comeback, having played their toughest teams early in the season. Fans should keep their eyes on the Wolves.

Men's Volleyball

The Wolves played Head Royce of Oakland in an away match Tuesday night, winning three of the four games by a large point margin. Travis Selland, Tommy Crow and Will Rei scored the majority of the points. The boys played Cal on Thursday night and won two of the five games and were unable to secure a win against the undefeated Grizzlies. The Wolves league record now stands at 2 wins and 6 losses. The boys are anticipating the next five games to be challenging.

Men's Golf

San Ramon's varsity golf team participated in a tournament in Diablo on Monday. The Wolves were up against 22 teams and managed to place 7th, only five strokes behind their rival, Monte Vista. Junior Cole Pickavance tied for the tournament low with a 71. Senior Mike Perchak shot a 76, while junior Christian Ulmer Shot a 79. The junior varsity team played Foothill in an away game Tuesday. The boys lost 188-206. JV's record now stands at 4 wins and 2 losses; varsity's is 9 wins and 4 losses.


The Wolves junior varsity team competed against Dougherty Valley at home Wednesday. Both the boys and girls won and showed incredible endurance. Luke Therien competed in the 100 meter and 50 meter freestyle, and Alex Garcia swam in the 500 and 200 freestyle. The varsity team participated in the Palo Alto Invite this weekend and placed in the top three.

Track and Field

The Junior Varsity track team lost to Dougherty Valley by a very small point margin at home Thursday. Highlights of the meet included Coki Wuest's domination in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.26, and Kevin Griffith's victory in the 1600 meters with a time of 4.54.


In a game against Livermore High School on Thursday, junior Brittany Baker scored one hit, and senior Dominique Ortega pitched well. Unfortunately, they were defeated by the Cowboys, 4-1. Their record sits at 6 wins and 5 losses, ranking them 7th in East Bay Athletic League.


This week in Wolves baseball, the freshmen and junior varsity teams played Dougherty Valley High on Wednesday. JV pulled through and beat the Wildcats but the freshmen fell short of a win and lost to Dougherty Valley. Varsity played away at Livermore on Friday and lost 5-2.

Men's Tennis

San Ramon's JV team triumphed over Dougherty Valley on Tuesday. Scoring 8-1, the Wolves definitely dominated. Sam Cole won two matches 6-0, securing a No. 1 position in the singles. Doubles team Andy Teichman and Ian Rosenthal won two matches, 6-4 and 6-3 respectively. JV's record now boasts 12 wins and only one loss. Varsity beat Livermore High on Thursday with a score of 8-1. Varsity's record is now 8 wins and 3 losses, allowing major North Coast Section potential for the Wolves.
