'Missing Pieces' moves the spirit

Peace Lutheran to present study of Alzheimer's

Peace Lutheran Church along with Musical Minded Productions is presenting a stage reading of "Missing Pieces," in which 15-year-old L'Aura finds her potential through her grandmother suffering with Alzheimer's.

The musical, written by composer playwright Catherine McSharry, is set in contemporary Benicia. The funny but moving portrayal explores how we can stay connected with the heart and spirit of loved ones with Alzheimer's without losing our own spirit and energy.

There will be refreshments afterward where playgoers can mingle with a variety of nonprofit agencies that help those affected by dementia and Alzheimer's. Also interfaith spiritual leaders will be available to meet privately with people.

The cast and musicians have extensive experience in the Bay Area. They also performed the reading at Playhouse West in Walnut Creek on April 30 to a full house. This will be the second performance.
