San Ramon once again came out victorious against the Monte Vista Mustangs in their North Coast Section rematch Nov. 28.

The Wolves defeated the Mustangs 43-36 in a thrilling Friday night game. San Ramon took control of the game from the start, obtaining a 36-14 lead on their first drive of the second half. Monte Vista, however, was back for revenge and scored 22 consecutive points and eventually tied up the game 36-36 with 4:50 left in the fourth quarter.

San Ramon was determined to win and they did so when Wolves quarterback Joe Southwick completed a 79-yard pass to Bryce Peterson. The Wolves then ended the game 43-36.

San Ramon defense played a major role in shutting down the Mustangs' offense. The Wolves forced three fumbles and picked off MVHS quarterback Brett Nottingham four times, combining for a total of seven turnovers. Southwick was on fire, completing 21 of 30 passes for 446 yards and four touchdowns, as well as a key interception with just under three minutes left in the game.

SRVHS now continues on into the NCS semifinals, competing against No. 2 Pittsburg on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Dublin High School. Foothill defeated Freedom, 48-41, on Nov. 29 and now faces De La Salle. The winners of these two games play in the NCS Division I championship
