Freezing weather winners

John Doyle Soccer Academy Dynamo, playing out of the Mustang Soccer Club, won its first ever championship in its first tourney Dec. 13 at the Mustang Soccer complex. The team members, who had never played before as a team, braved sub freezing weather to bounce back from a first game loss 7-6 to the Earthquakes to rally with three straight exciting 3-2 results to win the Mustang 6v6 Soccer Shootout.

Needing a win in the final pool game to advance to the semifinals, the Dynamo scored with less than one minute left off a breakaway by Noah Jaye to send the team into the semifinals vs. the No. 1 seed from Watsonville. The Dynamo played tough defense and with less than three minutes left got the game winner from Christian Corral, which propelled Dynamo to the finals vs. the Livermore Quakes.

In the final the Dynamo jumped out to a 3-0 lead and held on with awesome shot saves from GK Sean Berry and outstanding defense all day by Griffin Turner and Brett Hoofnagle, turning away several opportunities to preserve each victory. The offense was led by Ryan Collonna and Quincy Poynter, who with midfielders Owen Crenshaw and Dylan Miller helped control the semis and finals for the Champion - JDS DYNAMO.

Team members are Coach Pedro Naranjo, Griffin Turner, Christian Corral, Noah Jaye, Sean Berry, Brett Hoofnagle, Ryan Colonna, Dylan Miller, Owen Crenshaw, Quincy Poynter and Coach Johnny Kinnear.
