San Ramon Valley High School sports wrapup

The Wolves of San Ramon Valley High had another mediocre week splitting their two games going 1-1. The Wolves began the week at Foothill against a sub par Falcon team (1-16) but it was a tough game throughout. And for the Wolves and Falcons this wasn't just a regular league game, this one was a little more special: First-year Foothill coach Ryan Lloyd was a three-year varsity player at San Ramon and had something to prove, but the Wolves would have none of it and slipped away with a 43-39 victory. That would be the only high point for the Wolves this week.

On Saturday they met a team that played at a different level, when they faced the De La Salle Spartans, a very talented basketball team. The Wolves played very well defensively in the first quarter but that was it. The Spartans went on a 34-4 run in the second quarter to take a 38-14 lead into halftime. The second half wasn't much better for the Wolves with the final score being 75-44. There were a few positives from this game, one of which was the large turnout of fans for the Wolves. The San Ramon "6th man" made the gym shake.

The Wolves must shake this game off quickly because their next game will be on the road against their arch rival, the Monte Vista Mustangs. This is a huge game for both of these squads who now seem to be playing for second in the East Bay Athletic League.
