Project Homeless Connect looking for workers

Organizers of Help Connect People, which helps homeless people connect with vital services, are concerned at the lack of volunteers for this year's event in Richmond on June 16-17.

The one-day event, sponsored by Contra Costa Health Services and the city of Richmond, connects hundreds of people who are experiencing homelessness with food, medical and dental care, substance abuse programs, shelters and more. Last year 621 people were helped in one day.

Volunteers are needed to help set up, greet and direct people, distribute goods and food, assist service providers, and provide general assistance. They are asked to serve at least a half day. Donations are also accepted. Volunteer registration forms are available online at or by calling 313-6124. Completed forms must be received by June 8.
