Sheriff releases sketch of Alamo strangling suspect

Deputies with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department are continuing their investigation into an attack last week on an Alamo woman. In the incident, which occurred the afternoon of Aug. 10, the victim entered her house and discovered a man in her home.

The man reportedly strangled the woman until she lost consciousness and then stole her car. The car was recovered a short distance away, but the suspect remains at large. He is described as a Hispanic male, around 30 years old, medium build, 145 pounds, approximately 5 feet 8 inches, brown eyes, black hair and a mustache. The suspect may have scratch marks on his chin.

Sheriff's Department spokesman Jimmy Lee released a sketch of the suspect Tuesday.

The vehicle believed to be associated with the break-in is a 1980s gold colored Camry.

Any person seeing a person matching that description is urged not to make contact, but instead to contact the Sheriff's Department at 646-2441.
