Although Rogers and Hammerstein wrote Cinderella for Julie Andrews it was in 1957. CBS commissioned Rogers and Hammerstein to write the Broadway style musical and it was aired on March 31, 1957. The largest TV audience at the time tuned in. Miss Andrews was starring in My Fair Lady at the time and for the most part fit Cinderella in around her demanding broadwy schedule
