Statewide funding measures defeated

Original post made on May 20, 2009

The state of California's ongoing budget mess got no help Tuesday from voters, who turned down several ballot measures aimed at providing the fiscal tools needed to balance the budget. Local officials say the state level defeat portends calamity at the local level as well.

The fault for the budget gap lies with the voters, or those who didn't vote, but could over the past several decades. The solution:
Declare a State-wide bankrupcy, hope for a federal bailout, and call a CA Constitutional Convention.

Solution: Fire the entire bunch in Sacramento. They just don't get it and, obviously, never will. Rewrite the CA Constitution to include dismissal of the legislature and governor should a budget impasse occur or the state goes into deficit spending.

Thank God those measures didn't pass. We have plenty of money already. We very simply need to cut benefits for illegal immigrants, who single-handedly take billions of dollars from California every year. They have a disproportionately high birth rate and they use our emergency health care and don't pay a dime, bankrupting our hospitals. They fill up to one fourth of the seats in our school system, not contributing a dime to it. They cost 10 billion dollars a year to house their violent criminals. Thank God we may be forced to cut such welfare for people who don't belong here in the first place. I went to vote yesterday and the directions were also in Spanish. If you don't understand our language, you have shown a lack of respect for our culture and/or an abundance of laziness. Either way, they can go back home. Do you know how much it costs to print everything in two languages? Locally, we need to stop funding the group homes and other similar things, which are not only a waste but endanger our children, just like illegals and their swine flu, which has infected upwards of ten thousand now in the US, killed 8, and we're in the dormant season. Wait until winter. You government officials add insult to injury. You bring in people who endanger our community, and waste our money on benefits for the said threats. You punks might not be able to fund your traitorous agendas anymore. THANK GOD!!!!!

There is a "message" in yesterday's vote. But a "message" is only effective if those for whom it was intended take the time to listen! Will they? I doubt it.

A lot of bright and intelligent comments made by some officials wanting to get some press...shameful bunch.
The mayor: "the state is going to reach out and STEAL...I don't think the word STEAL is appropriate..this is the same mayor that according to his own words can't say his name in 3 minutes.

The Town Manager (Mr. tough guy): The situation is just unacceptable. Well, Mr. tough guy, you don't have to accept it, who really cares what you accept. I think the town council should cut your budget by 25% starting with your salary.

And the rookie Joan Buchanan: Figure out what works and get rid of what doesn't. Anyone with a half a business brain can solve the state problem. Most of the problems are the so called leaders. Not one of them have the guts or the brains to create an action plan to keep California a float. First of all dump the Unions, next...forget about vote getting and do the job, you just got the message or we the people should just vote all the rascal's OUT and start fresh with a NEW set of rules.

Dear Rick,

Why do you involve god in your pity and anger-enraged rants? Why involve god, who is this god, that you cannot see, feel, or hear? In some of your past writings, you feel god is meaningless, but yet again you revolve around the same imaginary being.

You keep stating your opinion on illegal immigration and particulary blame Mexicans, Mexico is adjacent to us, and this used to be Mexico and everthing was and is still in Spanish for ex Camino Tassajara, Vista Grande, and Diablo. I think that you should join the minutemen, with other hate mongers who share your ideologies. This country promotes illegal immigration, because they know where they are, but yet do nothing. And for your information illegal aliens can use or school system according to the California Education Code. They also can use the state and federal funding. You should rant about refugees from dangerous countries according to this country, they get 5,000 per month, and everything else free, so go rant about that. Also, the government gives money to the Catholic Charities to provide for the refugees. And have you seen the flow of illegal Canadians, why don't you go and rant about that for once. And if we did not have illegal aliens our men and women of the border patrol would be unemployed.

Don't you think it is a bit sick involving ogd in your hatred, according to my theological knowledge god or people's perception of god does not hate or judge, and that christians believe that who you are describing is Satan. Also, please clear up if you the monothesistic god, or the god of the christians AKA Jesus.

It seems to me that you have a lot of free time, why don;t you run for public office instead of wasting your time in a local cow town forum.

Klaus, why are you wasting your time talking to me if it's so ineffective to speak on these forums? Why do all my opponents on this page assume I'm not doing other things? You don't know me. You don't even know if my name's really Rick. I am doing many other things, as I have for years. Don't worry, you will see the fruits of my and my posse's labors soon. I will one day be a powerful political leader. Of this, I'm sure. I'm not even going to argue with you because your whole way of looking at the issues is traitorous. So, let's leave it at that. I feel you are a traitor. Why don't you go live in Mexico. And I do believe in a good God who is on my side, not on the side of spineless traitors who make inane bs arguments such as you. Good day sir

Rick,

I feel that you have a lot of anger stored that roots from your past, I feel that you wish to take this out on Mexicans and Mexico, this is pointless. In doing this you will never be happy.

Why am I traitor? A traitor to whom.

And I need a visa to live in Mexico, because I am not Mexican.

Who says that I do not believe in God, I do not believe in the christian god, but I do believe in the God from the beggining of time, and who created the original world.

If this god was on your side as you claim, you would be happy, not conflicted wihin the god that does not exist.

What is your support system, the Danville Weekly? You crowd these forums all the time, with comments that are irrelavent to the subject, and use offensive language for a christian. Also, why don't you pray to your god for group homes and Mexican and Mexico to dissapear, if god is on your side maybe you will get your wish, but we live in this world of reality, and did you know that believing in the second coming of christ, is mentally unfit and delusional.

TELL ME WHY STATES LIKE CALIFORNIA AND ARIZONA ARE SLIPPING TOWARDS BANKRUPTCY?

Enforce the 1986 Simpson/Mazzoli bill, the Immigration Reform & Control Act as enacted. Offer your support to Rep.Shuler (D-NC) on his gov website. Phone: 828-252-1651 and Senator Sessions (R-AL) (256) 533-0979

Knowing that Amnesty will be passed secretly behind closed doors, no matter what the consequences under a Democratic-Socialist majority? Those 20.000 in town protesting equals another 200.000, because once legalized there want to bring in their Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, Nieces. All those they can sponsor, by signing an affidavit that they will not become a financial burden on the population. However our government does not enforce this law and then the Taxpayer ends up paying for their upkeep. THIS IS CALLED CHAIN MIGRATION. Their handicapped and infirm can apply for SSI, SDI without ever paying into the system. These people know the the welfare government benefits, better than the majority of Americans. Sick old folks end up on dialysis machines, that cost around thousands dollars a year and their sponsor pays nothing! Nor does the parasite business that hires cheap labor.

The grand-slam example is the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Economics writer Ed Rubenstein’s new report, “The Earned Income Tax Credit and Illegal Immigration: A Study in Fraud, Abuse, and Liberal Activism,” The author says immigrants collected about $12 billion from the EITC last year, the majority not paying a cent towards it. Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation found high school-dropouts-who headed households pay an average of $9,700 a year in taxes but collect an average of $32,138 a year in benefits. All this money in real dollars is procured from unaware taxpayers.

Have we all forgotten that this country was founded on: "In God we trust"?
I agree with Rick regarding illegal immigration being a very big problem for California; for the country. They work here and send most of their money back to Mexico. Also Janet Napolitano, Sec. of Homeland Security, wants to give them free benefits: Medicare, Social Security, healthcare, welfare, AND FREE COLLEGE EDUCATIONS, all at tax payer's expense! Our sons' didn't get free college educations, did yours? The Democrats are attempting to get the hispanic votes so they can stay in power and continue to rape Americans of their money, freedom and honor. They will destroy everything our forefathers created for our country. They came to America to be free....to vote and worship God as they wanted and to free themselves from England's taxation! Now we have people who are attempting to remove God from "everything", a President who is taxing us, our children and grandchildren into oblivion and usurping more power than any President should be allowed. This will become a socialistic if not communistic country if the American people don't wake up soon and stand against them!

I agree with Frances. Nobody should receive Social Security for free. It's a travesty that housewives who didn't work 40 quarters are allowed to collect a social security check. So, listen up you housewives who didn't work 40 quarters - you are welfare queens. Stop accepting those social security checks. You are simply mooching off the backs of people who worked for a living.

And, yeah, you can only be free in America if you worship God. (I'll have to get back to you as to whether this includes worshipping Jesus, too.) Yeah, our forefathers sacrificed a lot to come here and deny women and blacks the right to vote or serve on juries.

Allowing women on juries was a source of great legal and social contention. Critics claimed that allowing women to serve as public decision-makers in the courts was a misguided experiment that violated the laws of nature, and would lead to dire consequences for family and society. (Never mind that we've used this same argument in our attempts to oppress same sex couples. Hey, if the argument works we should just recycle it as needed. No crime against that.) It wasn't until 1975 that the Supreme Court decided gender was not a valid reason for preventing someone from serving on a jury. Dumb, activists judges. We let women on juries and our crime rate has skyrocketed. There must be some causal relationship there. Once I've manufactured it, I'll let you know.

And while our forefathers had taxation without representation, we have something worse - taxation with representation. So, let's abolish Congress and who needs them liberal judges appointed by Republicans that went and allowed gay marriages last year. Thankfully, them same liberal and activist judges will most likely be upholding the constitutionality of Prop 8 tomorrow. Yeah, them liberal, activist judges can't make up their mind. Oops. Now we can't call them liberal and activists since they've sided with us. Yeah, who needs them schizo judges who can't make up their mind.

And to everyone who's contributed to social security - well, you're out of luck. We intend to stamp out socialism so goodbye social security. It ain't called "SOCIAL" security for nothing. It's socialism pure and simple since it redistributes wealth from dual income families to single income families; from those with a short lifespan to those with a long life span; and from high income workers to low income workers. It was started by Democrats so you know it can't be any good.

And while we're at it, we'll be re-writing in Miss Liberty's book. It will now correctly read,

"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door", as long as they believe in God. Otherwise, tell them to stay home.

Hey tongue and cheek, you're forgetting that when that poem on the statue of liberty was written, we didn't have welfare that immigrants came to abuse. The immigrants who couldn't sustain themselves went the hell back home. Let them come, and let them recieve no welfare. If the illegals can come and make a living without taking from us and while still contributing their fair share of taxes, fine, let them stay. Of course, ninety percent are pure burdens, so they can go home. You think you're so witty, tongue and cheek, but you reek of the anti-americanism that the amnesty lobby so often exudes. You complain about america's history, like all you ignorant liberals. You have no sense of context. You want to talk about slavery and women's rights? to this day, black Africa is the biggest enslaver, enslaving around 80,000 of their fellow blacks every year. They were enslaving each other long before the white man or America specifically ever came to buy slaves from them. It was the white Western world who first abolished slavery, due to the Catholic church first saying it was immoral, and later protestant Christians agreeing. It is the Western World that first preached women's rights. Black Africa, on the other hand, is still the most misogynistic place on the planet outside of the Muslims. You liberals have no context, and I'm sure by providing you context, you'll merely refer to me as a racist, because you're all traitors who wish to cling to any ideal to hate america, hate white people, and thus make us feel guilty so we have to pay for all the irresponsible third-worlders. In summation, you're dumb as dirt. Good day sir, and God bless America!

Rick:

Raising children doesn't entitle housewives to mooch off the Federal Government by collecting Social Security that they didn't pay for. When the government gives you a freebie, that's called welfare. You may not like it, but it is what it is.

When you have to attack someone and call them dumb or moron, it only proves that your argument, Sir, has no merit or logic.

And, Rick, I'm willing to bet that I'm smarter than you, work harder than you, attend Church more frequently than you do, have served my country more honorably than you, and vote more conservatively than you do. I'm just intelligent enough to spot welfare when I see it and to call it out for what it is. I'm not for welfare of any kind even if it means calling out housewives for receiving a benefit that they never paid for.

I'm opposed to illegal immigration. I'm all for legal immigration.

I'm opposed to the notion that you have to be a God-fearing Christian to have your voice counted in this country. The opinion of every legal citizen of this country matters - whether they be liberal or conservative.

Just to clarify - I'm glad you have the right to express your views, even when you do so in an uncivilized and largely pathological way. That's the reason I flew on an AC-130 in Iraq. So, before you make assumptions about someone, you ought to have your facts straight. Criticizing the ridiculous notion that our country only exists to serve the interests of Christians is my right and doesn't make me anti-American nor does pointing out that getting something for free from the government is a form of welfare.

Rick,

You perhaps think that I am not making sense, but you are mistaken. You do not have any foundation to lay your arguments on, only this
c-god that you seem to talk to. My opinions are based on facts.

I am not dissing anyone's religion, it is in pychology books, people can be put on hold for being over religious. And if I want to dis someone's religion, I can, becuase I live in a free country, and just because my name is Klaus does not mean that I do not enjoy the same benefits as you Rick(y). We have a theological disagreement. You are allowed to promote and spark anti-religion, as along as it does not hurt anyone. You insult Mexicans in writing this is punishable by law, and you do it over and over. I am wondering if the US Gov. is monitoring these forums, its quite possible, just think about it. Also, aren't you mad when mormons come bashing on your door, even if this is annoying, this country was founded on the belief that anyone can speak themself and that includes bothering you.

Do not keep calling me a traitor. And please answer my question, a traitor to whom?

And hating white people, where did you get that from?

Mexicans are not invading our schools in this district, so what's all the fuss.

So what, after?

Klaus you're wrong. Tongue in cheek, good for you for serving our country. Obviously I respect that. I never said that you can't criticize Christians, so I don't know where you got that. I said Klaus was a hypocrite for dissing on Christians while calling me hateful and offensive. You are a misogynist for saying women who raise our children don't deserve social security, especially considering that you were bringing up that issue in the context of defending illegals who take our benefits. If that wasn't your aim, that's how it came across, for I and other people were having an argument with klaus (if that is his real name) about how illegals rape our system by abusing welfare. You chime in saying that housewives do the same thing, which is assanine. You have the right to say it and I have the right to say you're a moron, because I really wanted to call you an a-hole. And I don't care what you call me, because I'll defend a housewife over an illegal immigrant any day.

Now to Klaus, I never said you couldn't speak your mind. So, stop jumping to conclusions. I said you were a hypocrite for calling me offensive when you are equally offensive. You are a traitor for spewing Mexican nationalist arguments about how California used to be Mexico. You totally neglect the other facts that give credence to the US having a right to be here now. I could go on forever, but I'll just say a couple points. One, this was part of the Spanish Empire, which the Mexicans fought off for their independence, claiming that the evil colonialist europeans had no right to be here. Then, the Mexicans now want to lay claim to that evil colonialist empire. MAke up your minds. The US Southwest was never a homeland of the Mexicans. Mexico was their land, The US Southwest was the empire they laid claim to after their war for independence. We took their empire from them in a fair fight, and now they call us evil imperialists. The Mexican nationalists thus have to convolute why this is their land going back to native days, which is not true. Being that they claim to be natives, namely aztecs, they say that the aztecs original homeland, aztlan, was the US Southwest. This is not true, an absolute fairy tale concieved in recent years. They had to do this, because they know that they can't claim to hate those evil colonialist europeans (Americans in this case) while laying claim to a european empire (the Spanish.) They want to give themselves a native claim to this land which they do not have. I have a million other facts to dispute you, but you come from a traitorous agenda to want to give our land back to a people that never owned it nor deserved it. And you're wrong, illegal immigrants fill more that a quarter of our classroom seats in this state, and we pay for it.

If you want to keep assuming I'm a Christian, go ahead. It shows your own prejudice against Christians, because you obviously don't like me or what I stand for, and you thus jump to the conclusion that I'm christian, which means you think all Christians are jerks. That would be like me saying, "I know you're a Jew considering the lack of patriotism you express." I think Christians are great people and a hell of a lot smarter than you Klaus. Their religion is based on the kindest prophet to ever walk the Earth, a man who believed in pacifism and loving the ones who hate you. I am friends with Jews, so don't think my comment was anything more than a hypothetical so that I may show your own prejudice.

You are a traitor, Klaus, in every way. And dumb as dirt.

Ricky:

If you support allowing housewives to steal from the Federal Government then that's your right and sadly our government allows this raping of the Social Security system for which you apparently advocate. When you don't pay in to a government program, then you shouldn't be allowed to extract out money (whether a US citizen or not). I'm not suggesting that housewives not be given the right to vote or serve on juries or have any other constitutional protections. I'm also not saying that illegals should receive benefits given to American citizens. They shouldn't. If a housewife wants to collect Social Security then she should work her 40 quarters and pay into the system. In actuality she doesn't even need to work forty quarters. Earning about $4500 in a calendar year will cause you to receive credit for the entire 4 quarters of that year. If you can't find 10 years prior to turning age 62 in which you've earned $4,500 then you are mooching off the Federal Government and as a taxpayer I shouldn't have to fund that mooching. I don't like anybody who mooches off the government.

Actually, you support misogyny because women who work outside the home are penalized by the Social Security system under the current structure which you seem to favor. I'm not penalizing anybody by saying that only those who pay into Social Security should receive Social Security.

But, you are not alone in your state of denial as to what constitutes welfare. Did you know the Federal Government PAID the residents of the Gulf Coast when they evacuated for Katrina? When I was stationed in Florida, do you know how much I got when we evacuated for a hurricane? ZERO! If you live in a hurricane zone and are too foolish to have money saved up for when you need to evacuate then my tax dollars shouldn't be used to reward that level of personal incompetence. Most taxpayers would be shocked at the level of freebies given to the residents (white and black, poor and rich) of Mississippi and Louisiana. It's disgraceful but you better not say that down there. They'll tar and feather you because they don't see it as welfare. Of course, if Cali had an earthquake and the Feds spent a single dollar here then those some folks in Mississippi and Louisiana would be hollering about how it was welfare for a liberal state.

To T-I-Cheek:

Right you are about those ten years... and that's another way that successful Americans are ripped off. Case in point...

I worked full and part time every year of my life from age 15 through age 42. By dint of that hard work, and a bit of luck, I was able to retire at 42. I now live on returns from that hard-earned money, which is invested to provide income.

SSA taxes are not paid on investment income.

So, I have now reached an age where, for SSA purposes, I have 'not worked' for ten years. Guess what? They are telling me that I am not eligible to receive SSA benefits from ALL THAT I CONTRIBUTED FOR ALMOST 30 YEARS, merely because I have not received a W-2 for the last ten.

Fun, eh?

Ricky:

Your skills at baiting people are excellent ones that you have clearly honed over the years. A useful, albeit scary, ability.

While I can't speak for Dawn, I never said housewives are no different than illegal immigrants. I said they abuse/cheat the social security system just like illegal immigrants do and that giving social security to an illegal immigrant or housewife who never contributed to Social Security is welfare. That, however, is very different from saying that housewives are no different than illegal immigrants.

Do you even understand how social security works? Do you understand that dual income families are discriminated against by the Social Security system? Wealth redistribution (social security redistributes wealth from dual income families to single income families) is a form of socialism, Ricky. I don't understand how you can support welfare.

This is like talking to a California teacher or a certain reporter at this paper about the silliness of repealing GPO and WEP. None of y'all get it. No wonder welfare is out of control in this country.

Dawn, you were talking to Tongue in cheek, were you not? Right above you he is referring to housewives being equivalent to illegal immigrant welfare abusers. So, you can understand how I may have believed you were agreeing with that. Maybe if you're writing was more than garbled, unfinished chicken scratchings I would've known better. T-I-Cheek, I know that Social Security only works when there's more youths than old people, because the youths have to pay for the elderly receiving SS. Thus, housewives who have more kids usually than dual income households are doing their part to keep SS alive. I have plenty of other facts to give to why housewives are doing their part and absolutely are not even in the slightest equivalent to illegal immigrant welfare abusers. However, this whole argument has become a bit of splitting hairs. If you're against welfare abusers on the whole, I can agree with you on that. And I have respect for you as a person, even though I still disagree with some of your assertions. I will say that I don't feel I bait people. I merely am able to cut through the mustard and show people for the manipulators they are, or help them see their own subconscious agendas, even if they themselves were not fully aware of them.

You say your friens with Jews, I doubt it, Jews in the US are not really Jewish they are Christians who so called converted which is not allowed in real Judaism, so you are wrong. They converted for "gain" Judaism is a race and Religion, if you ask your friends, they will say they are American, and their religion is Judaism, so therefore they are not Jewish.

What leads you to think that I am a Jew, just curious?

OMG. You bumped god for Jesus just like I predicted you would. Since you are predicting that I am a Jew, I know you are a mormon because mormons do not like to consider themselves christians, am I right? So whose the prophet now, hinckley is gone, so who's new.

Dear Danville Weekly Blog Manager

Is there any way that we can prevent Rick from hijacking these forums? This article was about the defeat of the state-wide proposition but Rick insists on using these forums to argue illegal immigration, God, and anything else he uncautiously cares to argue.

Please, I read these forums and want to enter a debate on the issues on the articles but I am unable to because of Rick.

Rick, go away. All other bloggers, please stop fueling Rick and post entries that pertain to the article at hand. I would be happy to have a healthy debate but the above dialogue is borderline absurd and I don't believe any of you, especially Rick have any sense of what you sound, or read, like.

Rick, I hope you do run for office because it would be the biggest comedic experience to watch you try to express these views in the face of an educated community.
