Dear Dolores,

Patient privacy under HIPAA standards restrict local computers from containing patient records. Typical notebooks and tablets used in patient services have wireless connections to secured storage servers.

It might be appropriate for Muir to explain the lapse in patient security protocols. Access HIMSS for further information on such HIPAA protocols.
