Original post made on Jun 28, 2010

The Danville Police Department provides Danville Express with a record of its calls each week. This is a sampling, omitting the more mundane, such as routine traffic stops.

Promiscuous shooting?

Check out the window on the front of the clubhouse. Unless you're confused about "promiscuous" which I guess means sort of haphazard and indiscriminate? Seems like an odd choice of words.

Anybody drive by that club house Sat. night? Looked like I was on 67th Ave and Martin Luther King in Oakland. A local kid was beat up and items stolen by kids attending that party. This kid was just riding his bike home and was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The association should have to pay for all police time and damages so next time they will not rent to thugs.

Come on guys...promiscuous is an accurate word for the type of shooting that took place: indiscriminate and haphazard.

It's only a matter of time before it spreads to the burbs.

The police in this town are a joke

One would have to assume the clubhouse would only be rented to someone in the neighborhood HOA area, or the demon spawn thereof. I agree completely with Ron, and the bill should be sent to the parents.
"Promiscuous shooting" is a term I always shake my head at, and it appears far too often in the Danville crime reports. Any discharge of a gun within any city limits is by definition reckless, so used this way the word promiscuous seems redundant. But God bless the NRA for continuing to ensure that the nation's idiots have unfettered access to firearms. Look what just happened in Chicago, no doubt with copious nudging from some NRA lobbyist scumbag.
One happy note this week at the end of the crime report: five minutes after the first shooting was reported, an arrest was made a block or two away - no question the same criminal. Perhaps a clubhouse party attendee? Or maybe someone who was not invited, and they became upset at the slight?
In several years of looking at these police logs, this is the first time I noticed an arrest for "promiscuous shooting". Here's hoping it is not the last time, and a double wish that the arrestee has all future gun privileges revoked.

It was four teenagers from outside of Danville according to this:

DANVILLE — Police continue to investigate what fueled a shooting at a weekend teen party that caused no injuries but nevertheless shook up the usually quiet town.
Police were called to the Sycamore Homes community clubhouse, 635 Old Orchard Lane, about 11:30 p.m. Saturday after getting reports that someone fired at the building and was shooting into the air, said Sgt. Allan Shields.
Witnesses told police the shooter fled in a car, and a short time later Danville police and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office pulled over a matching vehicle on Interstate 680 near Stone Valley Road. They detained its four occupants, described by police only as teenage boys from outside Danville.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing a concealed loaded firearm, possessing marijuana for sale, and possessing stolen property. Two other occupants were arrested on suspicion of shooting into an inhabited dwelling. The clubhouse exterior, including a window, showed bullet damage.
A fourth occupant was released to his mother.
Shields said investigators are still determining what motivated the shooting, including whether the suspects were targeting anyone at the party.
Anyone with information about the shooting may contact Detective Ben Alldritt at 925-314-3700.

The police were notified (I called) at 8:30pm Sat that evening that there was "unusual" activity at the club house (e.g., smoking in the parking lot, loud people, loud music, and no adult supervision). Don't know if this could have been stopped a lot sooner. Just glad nobody was seriously hurt; though it sounds like a boy on a bike was a victim. Very, very unacceptable.

"Police are a joke"
The "resident" that wrote this is the real joke.
Thanks to the Danville PD/CC sheriffs for the quick police response which resulted in a car stop and the arrest of the alleged
shooter(s).

I don't believe any shooting is 'promiscouous'. Lucky no one was seriously injured or killed. Not only should the shooter be seriously charged, so should the parents. Moms and Dads... where are YOUR children and what are they doing? As a parent, it is MY responsibility to know where my child is and what he is doing.

The Danville Police are wonderful. They are on top of everything, as the immediate arrest in this case demonstrated. The fact that it happend in the first place leads back to my first comment - where are the parents?!

Promiscuous is not a value judgment on the part of the police, but a standard descriptive term they are required to use to describe the nature of the incident.

A carcass of a large deer struck by some motorist on Camino Ramon between Town limit and Ridgeland drive has been decomposing there since July 1. The authorities (animal control, sheriff, police, etc) are too lazy to remove this nuisance. I suppose we have to wait until the vultures clean it up....

Sounds like a promiscuous car/deer collision. When will all this promiscuity end?!?

Troublemakers were most likely out of towners with A parent. Breeders and parents? Guess which these came from???
