A yellow Lamborghini belonging to a celebrity chef was stolen early Tuesday by a daring thief who entered a car dealership on San Francisco’s Van Ness Avenue after rappelling down the side of the building.

The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 3:40 a.m. and 5:15 a.m. Tuesday at a car dealership in the 900 block of Van Ness Avenue, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

Esparza said the suspect rappelled down from the roof of the building, entered through a window and drove away in a yellow 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo two-door convertible, a car priced at more than $200,000.

“It’s a very distinctive car, for sure,” Esparza said. “I don’t know how far this person is going to go.”

The car belonged to Guy Fieri, a Santa Rosa resident and chef who has hosted several TV shows including “Guy’s Big Bite” on the Food Network and “Minute to Win It” on NBC, Fieri’s public relations firm confirmed.

Esparza said investigators are reviewing the dealership’s surveillance video for clues in the case.

Officials at the dealership, British Motor Car Distributors, were not immediately available for comment this morning.

  1. Danville weekly should try and develop a niche. Repeating news items seen on TV or other websites will not make readers flock here — unless there is a relevant local angle to it.

  2. Dear Jessica,

We can all agree that this story if far afield from any impact on our region and corridor. My pal Vince was reading your home page to day and noted, “I had a Lamb stolen once but they brought it back because it really was a cow.”

It would seem if we could find a local diner or dive and have Guy do his show from that location the story would have context. If it could be about San Ramon Valley Chili, as all gas and no beans, it could be entertaining.

So here’s the deal, Vince is dropping a note to Guy to have him do his show from Pete’s Brass Rail and then a show-stopping visit to Elliots. Maybe we could have Vince’s cow as part of the show.

    So what do you think?

  3. Dear Jessica,
I think this is a fantastic story and I don’t care what Vince has to say about it because he sounds very crass and bucolic, which is a word I’ve recently heard used.

    Yours extremely humorly,

  4. Well Jessica, did you get the message. You do know we have been saying for the past many months, the Danville Express is not what is was in the past. And be honest Jessica…who really care’s if his lamborghini was stolen and in San Francisco…stay closer to home when reporting issues.

    Thank for Listening…Julia from Alamo

  5. Dear Jessica,

The humorists of Alamo have claimed to have seen the car, “but we could be wrong!”

One humorist thought he saw the car driving on the Iron Horse Trail, but it turned out to be a cart being pulled by Emus. Another humorist thought he saw the car in front of his house but it turned out to be a DHL Truck. The final humorist, blindfolded at the time, thought he saw Tiburon and possibly the Mona Lisa.

We are keeping our eyes peeled and fully expect the car to be parked at Safeway Alamo where no one would notice because it could be hidden under one or another SUV.

We are really getting into this story!!
