Can someone please tell me why many local schools have Physical Education, including running, during these hot "Spare the Air" days? I was under the impression that we are supposed the stay inside as much as possible. My granddaughter is still being made to run a mile during PE outside.

Agreed. Many of the primary and middle schools in our area have little shade. It's hard to really get at anyone who will say "yes, I am responsible for this stupidity". If parents pull their kids out of school for that hour (er... 45 minutes, as nothing whatsoever lasts an hour at school these rushed days), it would send a message, but not everyone can do this due to pesky jobs & the like. And bringing up the issue with the brain dead PTA soccer moms seems to be a lost cause.
