Steal from a so called "house of the Lord". Can you get anything closer to signing a lease in Hell? Please, the women lives in Alamo. How much more does she need that she had to steal from her church? I guess belonging to a church does not make one moral ie, priest and sex molestation. If god doesn't have eyes in the back of his head, he better have video cameras. Two many bad apples out there.

Hey, they're Catholics Janey. Can't they just confess their sins, do a few thousand Hail Mary's, and be forgiven? The Pope seems okay with pedophiles. What's a little thievery?

Derek, you obviously know little about Catholics or Catholicism. Many children have been molested in Protestant churches, as well. Pedophilia is not exclusive to Catholics. Please inform yourself before making such ignorant, bigoted statements.

Derek: Your comments are hateful and ignorant, and show an absolute lack of character and common decency. Why do you think it is acceptable to slander an entire religion? Your comments are no different than using the N word to attack african-americans. Shame on you.

Derek, There are many good people and priests in the Catholic Church. Just because of a few bad ones, the whole church should not be condemned. Look at the basketball and football scandal. Are these sports to be condemned because of a couple of pedophile coaches? I don't hear anyone commenting on that. Every religion has a bad people, every government has its bad people. There are bad people. The parishioners at St. Isidore are devastated by this embezzlement. It is over now and they go on and have things in place so that is does not happen again. So stop being so bigoted and move on. Have some compassion for the parish that is hurting and the people there that are doing good things for others. Thanks!!!!

Too bad she only got six months, the women is evil and deserves way more than she got. And where did you think she got the money to pay restitution to the church??? Daa. Wake up people

She's not evil, just a person who made a very big mistake and is now paying for it. Want to cast the first stone? Not me.

Big Mistake?? Obviously you have no idea who this women is or what she is capable of. You may want to research this one. Wouldn't want you to be blindsided

The hatred and vile comments really take me aback. There is no person on Earth who is without sin. That is why we are celebrating the coming of our Lord (Christmas) to save us all from our sins. To see an entire religion slammed like this really does show that our country has not made much progress towards healing of its bigotry and prejudice past. Be the thief a Jew, Mormon, homosexual, handicap, Christian, Muslim, woman or member of any other "group", what has been done is a crime and it is being dealt with. Now let the good people and the leaders of the parish repair and regroup and instead of throwing stones try saying a prayer.

Strange enough -- I agree with BOTH sides of this arguement. Yes, there are bad apples in every religion (or school athletics - thinking of recent Penn State Scandal).
However, what is not pointed out and is NOT EXCUSABLE is that entire chain of command tolerate or ignore such incidents; in my opinion - that is where the true crime and problem is. And which is why the entire organization gets tarnished.
If you see something wrong - don't turn away; stand up to it!

YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, IF IT HAPPENED TO SOME OF THESE PEOPLE I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD BE TALKING THE WAY THEY DO. NOT ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE BAD. SHE JUST HAPPENS TO HAVE A REAL BAD TRACK RECORD AND UNFORTUNATELY IT TOOK THIS FOR HER TO BE CAUGHT.

the Pope is OK with pedophiles?
Derek (and Kathy), you are both morons. Your IQs added together are still south of 100.

The St. Isidore CYO organization still proudly posts the PEINADO family name, in large lettering for everyone to see on their basketball gym wall. It is entitled the PEINADO Wall of Fame. Outstanding athletic accomplishments are listed there, makes you feel kinda proud to be reminded that you have a famous felon in the community, and where your church donations in the past have gone.

I just love how all you bible thumping self righteous nut jobs jump to defend a church that has a decades-long, global, far reaching, all-the-way-to-the-top track record of protecting pedophiles - and not just a few , but hundreds and almost certainly thousands. My comments were made in sarcasm, and it's abundantly clear they hit the nail on the head. if I belonged to ANY organization that covered up crimes the way your cynical, hypocritical excuse for a church does, I would be out of there in a nanosecond.
When these things happen in other churches (aside from some of the more cultish ones), the guilty are almost always brought to justice. They are not moved to other countries by the church's higher-ups where they cannot be extradited for their crimes.
As to sponge bob wetpants, I'm a moron? Maybe you should do even a bare minimum of research on the subject of Pope's covering crimes before you make an ass of yourself in public. For starters-
Web Link
- and there are many, many more articles on the subject.

Oops, did a say "hundreds and ALMOST certainly thousands"? My mistake. I should have said TENS OF THOUSANDS-

Derek: The only positive thing about your ignorant, slanderous, and hatred bigotry is the reminder that there are still people like you out there who continued to discriminate against an entire religion. Some would like to believe that the "Catholics need not apply" signs that use to exist in our country are obsolete, but your venom shows there are still crack pots like you out there that we need to be aware of.

you just don't get it do you Derek?
Your statement that *insert anyone* is OK with pedophiles is a) irresponsible, b) inaccurate, and c) moronic. To say that anyone on this planet is "OK" with pedophiles is simply idiotic. Thus you (and your gal pal Kathy) are at best, morons, and at worst idiots. However, I will take back my original statement that you both are morons; if you were, your collective IQ would be above 100. To remain below 100 on the SB scale, one of the two of you is a moron and the other an idiot. I choose you to be the idiot, and Kathy the moron.
Thanks

sponge_bob_roundpants This is called projection because you cannot respect different opinions.
It is not Derek's fault. Let him have his opinion.

Derek, are you really as hateful as you sound? Why do you hate Catholicism so much? Hate usually stems from fear. Perhaps some therapy would help.
Any organization with a history as long as the Catholic church is bound to have many bad people and acts. The hate, fear and anger of people who post comments like yours helps to hold all of us back in our evolution as humanity.
Please get help.

Gee whiz....just a comment when I see "American" and Collins weigh in on this and I respect them both so I want to contribute. These are two separate issues, of course the Catholic Church is engaged in litigation daily across the nation across various states regarding the problem of sexual abuse of young boys by their priests, we all know this and this is not a new story in the media, but localized embezzelment is a problem in many enterprises where "checks and balances" are absent. I hear the bells of St. Isidore's every day and am grateful for their presence in our little Valley around downtown.

Derek and Kathy:
Your opinions contain only selective information. It must be terrible to have such hatred. Hopefully you'll mature some day and will realize how stupid you and your statements are.
You have no idea as to how insolent you are.

It must make you feel good to pick on people. Derek is only stating his opinion. Let it be for God sake !!!!! You people make me sick... There is so much going on around us and you keep harping on what Derek said get over it, and get off your high horse.

Do you know how much she made, Derek? It might be worth embezzling $250,000 from Catholics for only 180 days in the clink.

Claudia, you're now on the list. Projection? Go back to school or at least dictionary.com. Or are you "OK with pedophilia"?

I know her as well. And I had her rumors for years of 'sticky hands'. People either loved her or hated her. I tried to keep an 'open' perspective. I mostly feel sad for the people who trusted her as their banker, or employee.

As far as the "Peinado Wall Of Fame" goes I think it has more to do with my father and his years of volunteering to the catholic youth. My father coached many teams both at my grammar school and then at St. Isadore's. My father is a very good person. That wall was put there to honor him. He and my mother are divorced. The saddest part of this whole thing is the humilation and shame she has caused my sister and her family whom belong to St. Isadore's. How could a mother, grandmother , sister and aunt steal from her churh? The woman, my mother is a very selfish, mean person.

St. Isidore (sp), please. Egyptian godess "Isis" plus "dore" (as in donation). Latin for "Gift of Isis." Just like Theodore,or Dorotheo (Dorothy) "God's gift or Gift of God.
I would suggest the Peinado name is removed from the "Wall of Fame." Find some less publicly conspicuous manner to honor your father's good works. I think he would understand.

I just read the comment from Debbie, the daughter. I am glad she posted regarding her father. The wall is in his honor, he worked hard for that school and his name deserves to be there. It is a shame that his ex-wife has caused his name to be questioned. I remember him working long hours at his job then volunteering at all the functions at the school and involvement with the church. The funny thing is, being around the other people at St. Isadore at that time is what has turned me against Catholisism and I do categorize the religion based on all the "attitude" I encountered with the St. Isadore crowd, but Mr. Peinado would have to be my only positive experience with St. Isadore. I did not know they divorced (afterall, they are Catholic), it must be a difficult time for the adult children. The theft is wrong, but please do not hurt the rest of the family with your comments.
