Thank you Danville Express for this wonderful focus on our school community. Special Olympics has brought many gifts to all of our students and as always, kids prove that when asked to excel, they will!

A very positive and heartwarming story about this program. However, one should consider what may happen to those with "special needs" if Obamacare is not struck down. Rationing of care is a big piece of that legislation in order to keep "costs down."
Rationing care is an interesting phrase now---senior citizens are finally getting it--parents of special needs kids need to read the 2000 page document. Congressman Mcnerney's office is getting. Lose to admitting he and the rest of congress made sure they were EXEMPTED from this soylent green law.

What a terrific story about a terrific community. The inclusiveness and support described here strengthens the bonds of all us as human beings. (Sorry, Mr. Adams, this story isn't about divisive partisan politics - please post your comments somewhere they'll be appreciated.) While the story seems to describe an organic culture, I know that culture like this doesn't grow accidentally. It is the result of dedicated and conscientious efforts of many people. I would therefore like to recognize the leadership of the school administrators, teachers and staff, the Special Olympics leaders and volunteers, the news media and correspondents who choose to find positive developments to report and foster, and of course the many students (of all abilities) who have courage to follow their hearts. You are all amazing, and appreciated. Thank you.

Special Olympics is a great organization for these children and more power to them to get them involved. My only issue with "merging" special needs children with mainstream in the classroom is not to trample the mainstream children’s rights in order to accommodate the special needs. We all need to remember that public school is for the masses that generally can be all on the same page. And yes, I have personal experience with this, so don’t try to tell me that I don’t know what I am talking about!
