Unfortunately, Dave, the linkage or correlation between bond fund spending, and the quality and effectiveness of the education received by district students, is not very strong. By the same token, it is very possible for someone to be opposed to bond measures, parcel taxes, and other school district "revenue enhancers", while being very much in support of quality education.

We have a good school district, at least by CA standards, but it's not at all clear that the passing of the recent bond measure will have much, if any, impact on student performance. Probably the biggest determinant of student performance is lies with the expectations and support of the parent(s).

Given that the bond measure passed, it behooves everyone to watch how it is being spent, and that the various projects are executed efficiently, with good attention to costs, etc., and that the "plan" doesn't vary too much (compared to what was presented to voters). And of course to also pay attention to the various student performance measures (or indicators) that are achieved.

Well, C.R., maybe we should just tell all those excess students out in Dougherty Valley to sit out in the cold, or in some overcrowded classroom, to get their education, since it will not matter whether they have a school building that can accommodate them. They would still perform the same, right. And all those wasteful expenditures to make our school buildings ADA-compliant.....why should we make easy for disabled students to navigate school buildings?

Yes, the voters did speak. They decided that providing safe, updated, and appropriate facilities are a necessary adjunct to our children's education. No argument with making sure that the funds are spent on the roster of projects presented and on budget -- as the funds from the last bond measure have been.
