Charity Dinner and Silent Auction
Original post made by Pickard, Danville, on Apr 22, 2014
We're the Pickards. We joined the Pan-Mass Challenge to see if a little effort on our part could make a difference in finding a cure for cancer. We ride for Dave, and for anyone with cancer, and those who love them. We hope every mile of our 192 mile ride brings us closer to a cure.
We aren't athletes, and until a few months ago didn't even own bikes. Our mission is to complete this ride and raise funds for Dana Farber and their incredible program of research and patient care.
The Pan-Mass Challenge raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through an annual bike-a-thon that crosses the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Since its founding in 1980, the PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. Our hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.Signing up for the PMC is only part of the challenge. In addition to riding 192 miles, we are each tasked with a large fundraising requirement. 100% of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. To assist us in our requirement, we are hosting a dinner and auction at the Prickly Pear Cantina in Blackhawk Plaza on April 22nd from 6-9PM.
The Prickly Pear Cantina has generously allowed us space at their restaurant as well as 25% of dinner proceeds, so eat and drink up! In addition to dinner, we have an auction planned featuring wine baskets, a barrel blending experience at Conn Creek winery in Napa, a week vacation, an incredible Portland Timbers getaway weekend, batting cage tokens, a session on coding from the Academy of Digital Science, lunch boxes from Yubo (they were on Shark Tank!!) and many, many more.
We hope you can join us. If you aren't in the area and would still like to participate, check out our online auction site atWeb Link make a donation directly to our team at:Web Link
