DA: No criminal charges in BART officer's friendly fire death

No criminal charges will be filed in the fatal shooting of BART police Sgt. Thomas "Tommy" Smith during a probation search at an apartment in Dublin in January, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office said in a long-awaited report released Friday.

Perhaps we should reconsider whether or not we want the BART Police to carry guns. They don't seem to be very skilled with them.

I totally agreed with "Former BART Rider"

This was a very sad and stupid event. Officer Smith should have never ended up getting shot. The BART Police just do not have it altogether.

Lack of training I guess or just too trigger happy or too damn scared when they are in a situation of danger.
