Contra Costa County election officials released updated ballot results Friday afternoon, with no changes to the winning placements for any San Ramon Valley contest compared to orderings announced at the end of Election Night.

The results posted by the Registrar of Voters’ Office now include all timely and valid vote-by-mail ballots in addition to totals reported by all precincts on Election Night. The remaining ballots to be counted include provisionals and exceptions, election officials said.

The updated totals announced Friday incorporated votes from tens of thousands of vote-by-mail ballots countywide, according to officials. The impacts on San Ramon Valley elections included:

* Danville Town Councilwoman Karen Stepper strengthened her hold on the top spot in the council race. She has received 39.11% of the vote, almost a full percent more than Danville Mayor Robert Storer (38.13%), who also won re-election.

Lone challenger Tony Adamich, who lost his bid to win one of two Danville Town Council seats, sits at 22.06%.

* In the San Ramon Valley school board election, incumbent Ken Mintz widened the gap between himself and challenger Jerome C. Pandell in the race for the final school board spot. Mintz has received 17,046 votes (22.96%) to Pandell’s 15,448 votes (20.81%).

School board incumbents Rachel Hurd (21,441 votes, or 28.88%) and Denise Jennison (19,907 votes, 26.81%) are first and second in the election, respectively.

* Challengers Donald R. Parker (29.19%) and Chris Campbell (25.80%) remained atop the race for two spots on the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District Board of Directors. Losing incumbent Glenn Umont (22.47%) leapfrogged challenger Dale A. Price (22.29%) in the battle for third place — compared to Election Night totals.

* Challenger Mike Maxwell maintained his lead for Contra Costa County Board of Education, Trustee Area 4 representative (which includes San Ramon, Danville and parts of Alamo), but the margin was reduced by about a third of a percent compared to Election Night. Maxwell sits at 52.47% and incumbent Richard Asadoorian is at 47.04%.

* In the county education board’s Trustee Area 2 (which includes parts of Alamo), incumbent Christine Deane now sits at 56.69% compared to challenger Ray Andersen’s 42.9%.

California’s Secretary of State website updated its results for state and federal elections just before 6 p.m. Sunday.

In a tight State Assembly race, Republican attorney Catharine Baker kept hold of her lead over Democrat Tim Sbranti, Dublin’s sitting mayor, in the race to represent Danville, San Ramon and the rest of District 16. Baker sits at 51.6% (67,706 votes), with Sbranti at 48.4% (63,602 votes), according to the latest totals.

U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Dublin) saw his margin over Republican challenger Hugh Bussell increase slightly to 69.7% to 30.3%. Swalwell’s congressional district includes San Ramon.

Democrat Mark DeSaulnier also saw his congressional-race lead increase. He has received 66.9% of the vote compared to his Republican rival, retired Judge Tue Phan, who has earned 33.1%. DeSaulnier, currently the San Ramon Valley’s state senator, will represent Danville and the rest of the 11th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Contra Costa County election officials said they anticipate releasing another election results update this Friday (Nov. 14).

  1. In the Danville Council race, Adamich did quite well considering he did not have special interests and their money behind him, nor the name recognition of incumbents.

  2. Desaulnier and Swawell better take note of the dem slap down and follow the constitution and not what Marxist dems dictate. Pham would have been a fantastic choice. Hooray Sbranti and his union thugs got kicked in the rear. Baby steps—-
