"It begs the question: How do we, as a board, envision our high schools?" board vice president Greg Marvel asked during the discussion. "Do we envision them to be massive, massive high schools with 3,000-plus ... or do we envision them closer to a more manageable number of 2,000 to 2,220?

"If that (latter) is the number we prefer to have, we're one high school short--

So...will the District consider building a 5th high school?
Also, when is Dougherty Valley H.S. going to become part of EBAL for athletics? Seems like a school with a population this large should be in a new category by now.

Greg, I like you. So I’m going to give you an annoying little lecture, free of charge, on the proper use of “Begs the question.”

Begs the question means you’ve made a conclusion based on a premise that lacks support. In other words, you’ve engaged in circular reasoning. For example, if you said, “Oranges taste good because they’re delicious,” that begs the question about whether oranges taste good because you’ve offered no evidence to support your premise that oranges taste good.

I believe what you meant to say was, “It raises the question: How do we envision our high schools?”

End of lecture.
