Town officials have advised residents about street closures scheduled for later this week for two marquee community events.

The San Ramon Valley High School homecoming parade rolls through downtown Danville on Friday afternoon.

The parade will start at the high school on Danville Boulevard at 2:30 p.m. and cause temporary closures on parts of Railroad Avenue, Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard until about 3:15 p.m., town officials said.

Then on Sunday morning, several neighborhoods will see rolling street closures because of the Run for Education, the annual fundraiser benefiting the San Ramon Valley Education Foundation.

The 10-kilometer race begins at 8 a.m. at Charlotte Wood Middle School on El Capitan Drive. Once the runners are clear of the starting zone, the roads will reopen and police will begin several short rolling closures following the race route to the Iron Horse Regional Trail on Paraiso Drive, town officials said.

Sunday’s rolling closures are expected to be short-term, with all road slated to reopen by 8:45 a.m.

Officials urged drivers to use caution through the event areas and expect delays during those time-frames, as there will be many pedestrians or runners in the closure areas.
