San Ramon: Woman takes plea deal, sentenced for DUI crash that killed toddler

Original post made on Jan 19, 2018

A Pleasanton woman with previous intoxication-fueled run-ins with law enforcement was sentenced to seven years in state prison Friday after accepting a plea agreement for causing the fatal DUI crash that killed a toddler on Interstate 680 in San Ramon a year and a half ago.

Shameful sentence/plea deal. I am sorry for the family of Elijah. This is just another stab in the side. As a recovering alcoholic I sympathize with her problem, however, her habitual lack of regard for other people is disgusting.
I am sure that we have not heard the last of this name... wait for it.

Typical addict behavior of this woman. She won’t stop until she is killed by her own behavior or the disease. The entire court system is enabling her. Because of her light sentence, it will be difficult for the victim’s family to obtain any substantial monetary compensation from the woman or her insurance company. I am sure this woman is unemployable and her family’s assets are already drained in paying for her defense. It appears the only punishment awaiting her is karma.... in the form of jailhouse justice like happened to Jeffrey Dahlmer. Inmates don’t like baby killers who happen to be the wives of deputy sheriffs. Good riddance.

Very tragic for all the families involved. Alcoholism destroys so many innocent victims lives and will leave their lasting effects, for years to come.

I don't understand why California doesn't require a breathalyzer to be installed on the driver's vehicle, when the driver has already had a DUI offense. If you register over .08, the car will not start! Other states have this law in place and it could truly save a lot of innocent lives and prevent multiple DUI offenders driving on their suspended licenses. Then there will also now be the "high" marijuana drivers to deal with.

I totally agree with "just an idea"on all they stated, and yes...the breathalyzers should be mandatory to get their license back in their hands.
And I'm honestly so surprised still that marijuana was legalized BEFORE they've figured out how to test how "high" a driver is! Unless there's a test I'm unaware of (please let me be wrong!). No matter how people stand on the legality issue, no one wants intoxicated, delayed response drivers behind the wheel! Sorry don't mean to change subjects, just think this is another concern going forward in dui issues and worry it won't be remedied until more lives are lost.

Thanks Just an Idea, I didn't know about a breathazlyzer that can be installed on the cars of DUI offenders. That should be mandatory in all states. I am appalled and disgusted that she will serve so little time. And the quote "as a mother, it weighs heavily on her". Right!! She drove drunk with her own child in the car. She's not much of a mother in my book. I agree she is one of those over top, refuse to get help addicts that will one day kill herself thru booze or in a car. Unfortunately, they are the ones who take innocents with them. I am always disgusted that in these crashes that they cause, they are never hurt. They just kill or injure other people. I don't know why her license was retained after she was arrested on another DUI that killed a baby. Her license should have been taken away immediately and she should have been in jail or on house arrest, and if she wasn't a cop's wife, she probably would have been. I just hope she gets a severe case of the DT's in prison and someone posts it on Facebook. Rot in prison, murderer.

I guess this puts murderers on notice - if you're an illegal alien or a cop's wife, you can get away with murder. Disgusting.

Hoping for some "jail justice" on this one.
