Abram Wilson for Contra Costa Community Collage Board

Original post made by Rosalind Rogoff, San Ramon, on Sep 23, 2018

Yes, he can change a light bulb!

Yesterday I had a visit from someone I have not seen in a long time, Mayor Abram Wilson. I still think of Abram as the Mayor of San Ramon. He holds the unique position as both the last Appointed Mayor and the First Elected Mayor.

Originally San Ramon's appointed Mayor chaired the meetings, but in all other respects he/she had no more authority than any of the other City Council members. When residents voted for an initiative to elect the Mayor, the role took on greater authority, but it is still not “a strong Mayor.” In other words, the Mayor still needs approval by a majority of the City Council to make any changes or additions to City laws.

Wilson came to visit me to give me material for his current campaign – the Contra Costa Community College District Board. I have not checked to see who his opponent is, but I have the highest regard for Abram and support him for whatever office he is running for now.

For those who believe politicians are so inept they can’t even screw in a light bulb, I can say from personal experience that Abram replaced two light bulbs in my house during his visit and they both WORK. Now He will work, according to his campaign slogan, by “Securing the Future for our students.”

If you want to contribute or support Mayor Wilson in his new campaign, contact him at [email protected], or PO Box 1631, San Ramon, CA 94583, or 925-735-3513.

Isn't this the seat the late Mr.Nejedly held ? I guess these obscure Board positions include lucrative healthcare insurance coverage from what I have read...the obscure Contra Costa pols under the radar love positions like these. No to many elections does he have to lose to get the message? When you are stuck in traffic on Bollinger, or soon to be Crow Canyon with The Preserve you can say thanks to him.

An emphatic YES to Abram Wilson.

When you are going past the new San Ramon City Center on a widened Bollinger Canyon Road with a soon to be built pedestrian over crossing, then give thanks to Abram and his vision. The current mayor and City Council have done a great job of carrying on what Abram had a hand in getting started.

Don't miss out on the discussion!
