A 21 year old needs more life experience before touting Progressive Change for the masses. Defunding the police is a very bad idea. I worked hard to earn the right to call San Ramon my home. I love this community and the safety it offers my family. I’m against any changes to our police force. All of our officers I have interacted with have been good people. San Ramon is a great community. Why Try to fix what is not broken?

Please vote wisely and OPPOSE this misinformed child of a deceived generation. Anyone who supports Black Lives Matter needs to study the beliefs of the founder, Patrisse Cullers, who has gone on record bragging about being a "trained Marxist". A quote from the Black Lives Matter website: "We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure, ... and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege". Make no mistake, these activists are set out to destroy the family, destroy our economic system, and destroy law and order.

Modern day colonialism? Where do these marxist puppets come from? One thing for sure, she is no libertarian.

21 year old activist.... Seriously? Defunding the police and using our tax money to push an agenda that Antifa supports? History has shown us that direction never turns out well except for the leaders.

Defund SRPD? Why...what have they done? Sound like an easy "bandwagon" position without merit nor credibility. Her statements are both pretentious and self-righteous.

San Ramon police is important reason why San Ramon is one of the safest places to live in all of California and why many families have chosen to make this city their home.

Defunding and eventual abolition of the police? We would then have anarchy. Do not vote for this misinformed lady.

Shouldn't she be in college at 21? Not to discriminate young generations, but I do expect the leaders to have a bit more knowledge and experience to do the job.

Wow. The racist, classifying comment of intention by her. Falling prey to the Marxist movement that is hidden behind the curtains of BLM.
"Defunding the police is a national movement and bringing that movement into wealthy white/Asian suburbs is an extremely integral part into actually making police defunding and eventual abolition and reparations a true manifestation in this world," Rajwade said in a video posted on the candidate's Instagram account.
She is just the kind of sheep that falls inline with their wicked plans to destroy America. your platform is inexperienced and misinformed. Pull back the curtains and do some homework on what this 'movement' is really all about, Rajwade.

No way would I vote for this person. Has she ever lived in a lawless society? I think not.

San Ramon residents who believe that they live in a nice town, and who want to keep their town nice, perhaps with some degree of incremental improvements, should make a note on their phone, to never vote for Rajwade. (Actually, it is a very good idea in general, to keep notes on candidates, to refer back to at election time....)
On the other hand, if you believe that San Ramon, and our society in general, need to be torn down, dismantled, and destroyed, in order to be rebuilt as part of some form of progressive "Californutopia", then Rajwade would seem to be your candidate.....
As a side comment, I don't necessarily blame Dougherty Valley HS for the "miseducation" of Rajwade. Probably most of the damage occurred in college.

This candidate is the definition of "naive", if not egoistical. Take a stand for something that truly is an issue...San Ramon PD is NOT. A total copy cat of "pot stirring" issues to feed her personal ego that don't apply to SR. "Look at me everyone...I'm a self-righteous activist on issues I read on the news!" (versus personally experienced) Clearly greater and more relevant issues to shine the light on in San Ramon...our police and BLM awareness is the best you have? We need "experienced" candidates open to listening to what the citizens of San Ramon really want or need, NOT a single minded "wanna be activist" pushing her personal beliefs on the rest of us.

Sameera Rajwade sounds like an amazing and exciting candidate. This city and all cities could use more young people coming out and engaging in the civic process. Her ideas of change are right on track. SRVUSD would benefit from a more inclusive curriculum (my 6 year old was told to dress up as a native person on Thanksgiving) and SR PD seems to have more then enough funding to keep them functioning. I’m going to keep my eye on her, and cheer her on! Go get it Sameera!

Um yea....so who else is running? This has got to be a joke - out of touch with reality. 8 residential burglaries in 1 day (late 2019) and she wants to "defund police". I see on twitter she doesn't practice social distancing and doesn't wear a mask either. Take your entitlements and go away.

Miss Rajwade might want to study a little history relating to “revolutionary change.”
Karl Marx was a communist who introduced the concept of socialism.
Former ruler of the USSR, Joseph Stalin, combined Marxism with his own ideology and called it Stalinism.
Former Russian revolutionary, politician, and political theorist, Vladimir Lenin, combined Marxism with his own ideology and called it Leninism.
Former Soviet revolutionary, Marxist theorist and politician, Leon Trotsky, combined Marxist thought that is known as Trotskyism.
So, the three stooges took an idea from another stooge and created a failed system. LOL!!!
The point is: Communism failed in the very country in which it was born.
The fact is: The standard of living in a socialist country is far below what anyone would find in a capitalist country.

There are many rather blunt comments on this message board and Sameera is not commenting/retorting here which is very odd for someone young and VERY active on social media and with many many spats on twitter. She attended American university in Washington D.C. "to pursue a career in politics." (DVHS Twitter 4/10/2017) I think she's being driven by the folks West of the East Bay. Cities there are gentrifying out to San Ramon and they want to grease the skids as they move over here - which they perceive as a "wealthy white/Asian community" (thus the barriers to entry are the perception of the policed culture here, not the cost to live here). This is absolute nonsense to wish to defund the police and frankly very arrogant not to mention ignorant. She essentially wants to bring a problem to San Ramon where there isn't one.

In reference to CD's comment...
PLEASE MOVE TO PORTLAND, SEATTLE, CHINA, VENEZUELA, CUBA, RUSSIA OR N. KOREA. YOU NEED A WAKE UP CALL.

[Portion removed due to unverified claim about mental health status] Also doesn't care about safety of San Ramon residents because she doesn't practice social distancing and doesn't wear a mask when in vicinity of others, as shown in this photo after the "protest" on June 3 in San Ramon: Web Link She also is very racist - makes the claim that "white people" are setting up "black people" to look violent (?). Also, she characterizes the residents of San Ramon as "filled with ignorant people who use their wealth privileges to separate themselves from the evils of this world". Web Link Not to mention she accuses the school district of "constantly covering up pedophilia". [Portion removed for disrespectful comment] 17 hours ago she posted this Web Link Please vote intelligently, everyone.

Poor little Sameera. She's been "educated" alright. Sadly, our colleges and universities do not teach history and if they do, it's a left-sided version of it. There's no room for dissent or opposing points of view on most American campuses these days. Sad, but true.
If she wants to live in a communist or socialist country, there's several to choose from. Cuba? Venezuela? If her grand vision of what our community should be like is so wonderful, why are the people in Cuba trying to get to Florida, rather than Floridians making their way to Cuba?
I'll wait for her reply...

They do have points to their candidacy that make sense (the idea of using money from SRPD’s huge budget to reinvest in low income communities and other Bay cities). However for caring about low income communities, it’s odd for the candidate to be out on her mediaoutlets in public (drinking at outdoor bars) and putting workers in danger in a pandemic..it does illuminate the dangers of a young politician with no real job experience (or college degree (removed)) ruining an otherwise promising progressive platform.

a human is a registered user.
Ms Rajwade claims 'defunding the police is a national movement', but only a small percentage of the country actually supports this; news/social media simply amplifies everything. Dealing with bad apples in any PD is one thing, but defunding it makes no sense. Instead of doing honest root cause analyses of legitimate societal issues, the far left (or whatever the right term is) has decided that our society is fundamentally bad, needs to be burnt down and rebuilt from the ground up. But immigrants from around the world come here and many do well. How ?
The Left is going too far to the left, to the point where they will lose all credibility. Change for the sake of change is counter-productive, and doesn't help aggrieved communities. If change is indeed required, most prefer incremental/sensible change to radical change. Sorry, though her heart may be in the right place, I see no reason to vote for a 21 year old dreaming of Utopia.
