Words cannot express the sadness and loss that the Kou family is going through now especially for her two kids. There is a GoFundMe that was set up to show our thanks for the sacrifice the family paid for Catherine service to the Dublin community.

Catherine was a sweet, kind, caring person that would put the interest of others (especially Dublin’s students) ahead of her own. She was a beacon of light in today’s dark and divisive politics and a role model (not just for Asian Americans but for all Americans) on how to serve the public. Catherine truly cares about the welfare of every students. I am amazed how she would reach out to countless families, know our kids by name and ask how our kids were coping with distance learning.
.
Catherine also fought tirelessly for years for a comprehensive second high school in order to deal with overcrowding. I really hope DUSD will recognize and honor Catherine’s public service by working with her family to see if they are open to naming a building or hall after her. Catherine loved Dublin and died serving Dublin.
.
Easter is about a week away and it is a reminder that life does not end with death. We do not really know why the Lord took Catherine so early. Whatever the reason, we know that as a Christian she is with the Lord now. I hope the spirit of Catherine continues to live in Dublin. If we all love one another and put others ahead of our own self-interests, this world would me be a more peaceful place. Dublin will surely miss her.
