Indoor mask mandates are back in Bay Area as COVID cases surge

Seven Bay Area counties announced Monday that residents will be required to wear masks in nearly all indoor settings, marking the first major step in reversing a statewide rollback of public health restrictions in June.

This is unbelievable to me. Have we forgotten the purpose of the vaccine? It was to prevent hospitalization and death, and it's working superbly. Doesn't anybody else see the irony in this situation? We, the vaccinated, are being forced to protect those who are purposely not being vaccinated, and probably never will be. In some cases the unvaccinated are protesting the mere presence of a vaccine! What is the end game here? What milestone needs to be reached before we can take our masks off again? It sure can't be a better vaccination rate because that's not happening. And what about future variants, lamda for instance? Is the truth that we're going to be living masked-up for years to come? With never-ending government stimulus checks and rent-free living?

This sends the wrong message to the unvaccinated, but I'm not surprised. Most of us knew this was coming.
