Unless you're very elderly, I would think this would be hard to fall for. Danville police officers aren't going to call you if you miss jury duty. I show up for jury duty, but I doubt they do anything if you don't show up. Unless it's sent certified mail, there is no proof you received a jury summons.
The wisest thing to do is not take calls you don't recognize.

I don't even respond to the police when they call for various donations.

What I don't like about donating to grocery store food donations and police charities is that the grocery stores (in addition to profiting off your purchase) and the police (who metely collect the monetary donations) take all of the credit. Not right.
