Blackhawk Plaza movie theater closes abruptly

The San Ramon Valley is now down to one movie theater throughout the region, following the recent closure of an entertainment staple at Blackhawk Plaza in the wake of the demise of San Ramon's Regal Crow Canyon three months ago.

Once again it is a rent increase that has caused a Blackhawk Plaza tenant to either close, or move out. The question remains: Are the So-Cal owners of the property trying to drive out tenants in preparation for some “re-purposing” of the property for some other use? Or is it merely a case of misjudging tenants’ “willingness to pay” for rent increases?

What a shame. We don't go to the movies as often as we used to, but this was our "go to" place. I hope the employees find new jobs.
