Supervisor Piepho restarts the Alamo Roads Advisory Committee

Dear neighbors,

In a letter circulated to participants in various Alamo organizations, Supervisor Piepho has requested nominations for members of the Alamo (Region) Roads Advisory Committee. Such a request only gathers nominations from less than 90 active participants in all these groups including the AIA. We can expect this handful to look within their very small faction and nominate candidates that represent special interests such as traffic circles and expansion of business district intersections.

As a result, the majority of regional residents and their neighborhoods are not represented in any such nominations and the more rational options for roads and related infrastructure will not be considered. Our majority wants covered drainage, underground utilities, street lighting, walkways and pathways, and traffic controls along the major roads in the Diablo Vista (Alamo) Region.

Please consider providing a letter of nomination to Ms. Gina Ferretti, District 3,, for committee candidates to represent the majority in our region.

Dear neighbors,

Unless those expert among our neighborhoods step forward in nomination to the Alamo (region) Roads Advisory Committee, we are going to have more of the insanity of road expansion in the business district and the lack of infrastructure improvements along our major roads.

Yes, it is a risk to participate in county committees, but it is a greater risk to allow special interests by a handful in our region to design further failures into our roads and lanes.

Step forward experts, please,

Dear neighbors,

We simply cannot allow SRVUSD, SRV YMCA, and other special interests to design our region's roads for foreign traffic access. We need strong committee voices to promote the use of our roads for access to our shopping and homes and not as a commute corridor.

#1 - Remove Danville Blvd in the business district and create a mall with appropriate access lanes. Our business district is a destination and not a commute corridor.

#2 - Restrict and control further development of Monte Vista High School so further invitation to foreign traffic and parking does not impact our region's neighborhoods.

#3 - Stop the construction of the SRV YMCA facilities and the changes at the Hemme intersection to facilitate such commercial usage.

#4 - Establish appropriate infrastructure along all major roads in our region including covered drainage, underground utilities, street lighting, pathways, and rapid public transit.

Note to committee: A neighbor this AM suggested removal of on and off-ramps in Alamo to improve flow on 680 and to reduce convenient access to our streets by commuters. Great idea? Let's keep 680 traffic on 680.
