House built on a sand foundation

Original post made on Sep 6, 2012

As the general public hems and haws over the Republican and Democratic national conventions, Tom Cushing encourages readers to recognize a level of hyperbole in political rhetoric. In this week's [Web Link Raucous Caucus], Cushing focuses on the "We built it" theme of the RNC and what it will take for the right to win in November.

The RNC platform a house built on a sand foundation? No, that would be the DNC platform...the platform of death...the death of God and the family. Leaders of the DNC have made government god and destruction of the family their foundation. God was removed from the language of their platform, and then replaced under protest by at least half of the delegates. The DNC is firmly for changing the God-given definition of marriage...even though homosexuals only comprise less than 4% of the population of the US and homosexuals already have the benefits of marriage under law and voters in our state and others have voted against changing the law. The DNC is passionately pro-abortion. Since Roe v Wade, more than 50 million babies have been killed. Who is speaking up for their rights? Not the DNC, who supports even the most egregious "late-term abortion"..where anyone can clearly see that it's a baby, not a blob of tissue. This is the proud platform of the DNC. Barely any mention was given to the economy, even though the national debt has now risen to 16 trillion dollars. So it would seem that the DNC will focus on "fundamentally transforming" our nation by sweeping social changes, meanwhile allowing our debt to collapse the economy by taking over every aspect of our lives , from the cradle to the grave. God can't be replaced. When He is taken out of society, that society will fail.
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."
Galatians 6:7

Thank you, MO--my sentiments exactly. Tom's rants are nothing more than local media bias---good for a laugh or lining a birdcage.

Getting sick of socialism. Anyone who lived in such a country can recognize it in the Democrats. I escaped it from Russia. When Obama was caught whispering to Putin's aide that he could cooperate more after election, I got a chill from the past. It is on ututbe. What is wrong with ppl like Cushing? I know where Obama's road leads----you won't like what's waiting for you.

Aw Lacey, unless you own a virtual bird, please update your insult -- we avians are a little sensitive in that regard.

For instance, you could say that, after Tampa, it's a very good thing that cows really don't fly (any more than desperate warnings about the Red Menace do).

MO - thoughtful comments. The DNC was a sad example of a group of people I don't even recognize anymore in the party I once thought had honorable, American values. The militant and angry group (many of them bussed into the convention) have avery narrow goals; lacking the vision or intelligence to understand these social programs all come at a huge financial cost to the government (tax payers).

While we're at 16 trillion dollars in debt, these same people want all their birth control paid for, their abortions paid for, the 45 million people on food stamps supported, the 23-27 million unemployed supported etc. We need some adults in the white house, congress and the senate to understand that fundamentally we're out of money!!!!!

As a woman, I'm disgusted and confused to hear the women at the DNC talk out both sides of their mouths. They want to be taken seriously in a man's world. They want the same benefits, same pay, same respect for doing the same jobs. HOWEVER; they can't be responsible enough to pay for their own birth control or their abortions? What?? Fortunately, for most of us sex is an option, a choice.

These examples of the women speaking at the DNC on women's rights are fakes. They are the whiners, the takers, the weakest of women, who are trying desperately to influence and encourage young women to carry that HUGE chip on their shoulders as well. Instead, why don't these same women show through example the kind of power a woman can truly have when they make decisions for themselves and think for themselves. Pay for their own reproductive birth control? Pay for their personal abortions? Do men need the government to pay for their condoms? This is all so crazy.

When we are weakened as we are now with our military strength the lowest it's been since 1915, you better believe that no one will care who is paying for birth control and abortions when we are involved in trying to defend our country from the dictatorships and communist countries who are laying in wait to take their chance at destroying the beautiful USA.

Cause and effect seems to allude so many of the democrats in this country. Why?!

In response to your tirade, I'd like to post a quote from a former president who would be unwelcome in today's Republican party:

"We establish no religion in this country. We command no worship. We mandate no belief, nor will we ever. Church and state are and must remain separate."

— Ronald Reagan, 40th US President (1911-2004)

Thank you Farmer Dave for an astute observation. Wake up people. Didn't your kids go to public school? Don't you drive on public streets? Bridges? etc. Who the heck to do you think supplied them? It's the government stupid! Common sense has gone out the window with all this rancor and rhetoric. It's not socialism to have government programs, it's necessary. NO that does not mean the government must run and operate everything. But without the government we would have a lawless and more messed up society. Are we in a tough situation right now. You bet. Think long and hard about how we got here. It's didn't happen in four years. BTW I am a Republican
