Another teen trapped in sand tunnel

Original post made on Jul 26, 2011

A 17-year-old girl from Sacramento was rescued from a collapsed sand tunnel on the Sonoma County coast Saturday evening, almost a month after an Orinda teen was badly injured when a sand tunnel collapsed on him at Sunset State Beach where he was attending a picnic with the Creekside Community Church in Alamo.

It just amazes me when I read things like this. I grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan and whenever this happened it was always out of towners who had no idea it was dangerous to dig these tunnels. If any adult saw a kid digging they would stop them and find their parents. Can't see that happening much these days. One thing for sure, "It takes a village".

The old adage of Hillary---"it takes a village" is only true if parents don't parent!
I don't want any socialist villagers near my kids.

Well, I would welcome someone looking out for my kids if they were in danger. Knowing I can't be with them 24/7 and that their brains have not reached the point of full development and therefore they don't always understand the consequences of their actions, I'm grateful if someone notices they are in danger and puts a stop to it.

I'm still praying for the Orinda teen who was injured previously. I doubt his parents would have objected to a "socialist villager" stepping in to help.
