Poet's Picnic

Original post made by Elaine Betts, Danville, on Jul 27, 2011

Mark your calendars for the POET’S PICNIC
Saturday, August 6, from Noon- 4 p.m.,
at the Benicia City Park Gazebo on First Street and Military West.

Poets Laureate from all over California who serve their cities and counties by
increasing the awareness and understanding of poetry will come together along
with their fellow poets for an afternoon of getting to know each other and sharing
their work.
The Poets Laureate will be reading from their work starting at 2:30. Poets are
invited to bring poems to share with others on the grass as they picnic. They will
also be encouraged to put one poem in a PICNIC BASKET from which each
Laureate will draw a poem to include in their reading time. The general public are
more than welcome to attend. A large playground is part of the park, and childcare supervision will be provided during the reading period.
