I love this town! I think they are doing everything they possibly can to ensure the success of our community. I would like to see an increase in the volunteer police and fire departments and have a program like VIPS ( become pervasive in the Danville community. This would not be a program as it's currently defined. I would like to see a program that puts the citizens and the police department on equal footing in the law and allow those that pay for protection (citizens) to have oversight of the police force. This would include ride alongs and other activities that would allow the citizens to become better prepared to use their own firearms, body armor, and other equipment that is primarily focused on police enforcement removing those capabilities from the citizens.

This would allow those in the community to volunteer to be a police officer and receive training about the law and its enforcement. This would increase the sense of community while providing oversight of our public officials reducing the number of racially motivated stops, overturned police vehicles on the freeway, and other forms of excess will be extremely hampered due to citizen involvement (where is the save gas program for the police? etc?).

Significant portions of my immediate friends and family are volunteer police and firefighters in Nevada. This is common practice. Although the truly trained, professional firemen cannot be replaced, the community can help support them while reducing the overall costs. I believe the majority of the folks who live in Danville support the community and public officials. While the costs increase, we need to look at ways to bring in the community and not 100% outsource the safety of the community to those who generally do not live here.

The majority of our public officials do not live in the town, and though they have sacrificed by not having income increases, the number of traffic citations and aggressive behavior by building communities and public officials to increase their fees have police officers at every stop sign giving tickets for even the most minor infractions. Luckily, I've been informed and not fallen victim to one of these citations, but they're certainly not designed to help the community - only provide more taxes or a way of funding the government.

I would personally volunteer for both programs as I have children and believe in this community and would like the opportunity to reduce the outsourcing while increasing the sense of community.

Oh - and let's bring back fireworks! Happy 4th of July!
