Just a question for some one that knows ....WHY NEW POLICE CARS?????

I am sure the CHP puts on more miles on there vehicles one day than the Danville Police puts in a month.. Are you telling the folks in Danville that the police department of wearing out their police cars. Maybe they should turn their engines while hiding behind things. Idling engines will wear out police car engines.

I feel sorry for you Danville folks. You don't have a clue what is going on in your beautiful little town.

Thanks for listening if you are listening,

Julia Pardini from Alamo

Julia, the "Danville" police are actually members of the county sheriff's department, just like the officers who patrol Alamo, Diablo and Blackhawk. Danville just pays for the ones assigned to Danville. Like the "Blackhawk" police, they have "Danville" painted on the side of the car, but they all work for the county sheriff, they all have the same training, and they all use the same practices and procedures.

Talk about lacking a clue...

I agree with Huh?, Julia. Make sure you know what you are talking about before commenting. Since you live in Alamo, why are you so concerned with the goings on in Danville?? Most of us who love here in Danville know what is going on in OUR town and know our police department are members of the county sheriff's department.
Thanks for listening, if YOU are listening!!

Police departments keep cars until they hit 100k-120k miles. This can happen in just 3-5 years. Danville has been replacing cars every few years all along, you're just noticing it now because Ford stopped producing the Crown Victoria in 2011.

The loss of the Crown Vic means departments all over the country are having to find replacement vehicles. CHP is phasing in Ford Explorers to replace their sedans, for example.
