Sgt. Doug DeVries runs a remote control-sized wand across a lost pup like she's a six-pack of Coke at the supermarket. Swiping the collarless dog from head to tail, the animal services official hopes the scanner will pick up a frequency.

Around August 20, 2013, my cat Kiwi ran away from Lori Soucie's home on El Pintado Rd where she was temporarily boarding while I was out of town. Kiwi is a Maine Coon mix, solid black/chocolate. I adopted her from Lori's rescue service seven months ago, and she now lives in Lafayette. She wears an old red collar with a blue Oklahoma tag, originally issued to another cat. She is microchipped, with Lori listed as owner. Here is a link to a video I made of her a couple of months ago:

Good luck, Ingrid! MC's are the best -- even my hounds agree -- hope you can be reunited!

As an FYI to all, there may be an app for that. Smart-tags and GPS locators are coming onto the market. The latter aren't cheap, and they're currently collar-based, but they are another layer of protection and possible early retrievable for your Rover.
