D. Mullan's comments are backed by independent studies of Danville's business centers. Commercial funding organizations have access to in-depth studies that detail the lack of anchor retail in the Old Town and elsewhere to justify further investment in retail, commercial, professional and hospitality operations in Old Town, Blackhawk, Livery or disconnected, small centers.
In a recent study distribution to a group of commercial real estate investors, Danville's Old Town was noted to have the potential of Walnut Creek's North Main Street shopping area, but lacks the major anchor stores to be center of demand for shoppers. Specifically, the area north of Diablo Road from Railroad to the creek was specified as needing renovation to major retail space. The same was noted for the area from Hartz Way to the Livery including rejuvenation of the livery and the McCaulou's area.
PR by Danville and its chamber does not create actual success for shopping. Reality demands rejuvenation and connection of OLD TOWN shops with anchor retail and hospitality.
Growth investment will not come until such consolidated plan is ready for execution.

Walnut Creek? North Main? Are you kidding? That represents more than potential. It assures overcrowing, crime and parking issues.
