Disincorporation: what are the advantages??

Original post made by Community courtesy, another community, on May 27, 2009

Dear Dolores,

Let me suggest that Dawn's message this morning under the ACE story should be discussed separately:

Posted by Dawn, a resident of the Alamo neighborhood,

Article from today's WSJ notes that many cities, including Vallejo and Rio Vista, are considering 'disincorporation' to ease economic hardship.

I continue to be grateful that we in Alamo did NOT incorporate:

Thank you to all my fellow citizens who voted no on incorporation!

Thus, the discussion can continue on whether Alamo would have faced disincorporation due to lower state tax sharing, but more importantly what potential for disincorporation of surrounding ciities exists? Are their advantages to disincorporation for cities in Contra Costa County?

Yes, yes, yes. Thank goodness the members of Alamo Incorporation Movement were not winners - in both senses of the word
