I’ve asked my child who goes to school with her; knows of her, but doesn’t interact with her. I will be checking facebook & text also.
To all parents: this is the time to go beyond asking, someone knows something. Teens will protect their friends. You may be able to find info that they are not willing to tell you.
I pray that God will be with this child & her parents for a happy conclusion.
Contact ALL her friends in person! Last year when my daughter ran away her friends hid her & lied about seeing her. One of them finally called to tell me where she was. My hearts breaks for her parents. I know your pain.
Kids, do not lie or hide your friend. You have no idea how horrible it feels as a parent to fear the worst.
I feel for the parents, they have probably tried to get help for their child but finding competent help in the tri-valley is an up hill battle. Too often the "therapist" sees the child without the parents, wrong approach!
The Discovery Counseling Center is a fantastic resource for mental health services in the SRV!
As a therapist AND a mom of a challenging teen, I can say that it is never easy.
And Bill... please be careful with your comments of judgement.
My prayers are with the family and especially for Maddie.
Who said this child needs help? Please don’t assume, it’s probably a normal teenager that got mad at a parent for a deserved punishment.
To All Teenagers: please remember that a good parent is a Mom or Dad that is NOT your friend; they will love you during good times & in bad, they will support you when you need it, they will be proud & brag when you accomplish something special, they will give you constructive criticism when you are getting out of line, & they will give punishments or consequences when your actions are inappropriate. You will understand this when you are older.
Also, if you know of anything, please tell an adult or call the anonymous tip line at 802-5632 or 800-222-tips. This is not the time to lie for a friend.
Just got an email from the school district saying that Maddy is back home safe!
