The evacuation of a Danville neighborhood was called Sunday after police found pipe bombs inside a home there.

Three pipe bombs and bomb-making materials were found in a house in the 200 block of Amigo Road. Police were called there after a report of a verbal disturbance.

In responding, Danville police said it was found that the disturbance was over resident Eric Dennis’ possession of several pipe bombs.

“Further investigation revealed that Dennis was in possession of three homemade pipe bombs and a small amount of materials that could be used to make more pipe bombs,” the report stated.

The Walnut Creek Police Department’s bomb squad came in to assist. After confirming the bombs were made of explosives, the bomb squad detonated them on site to safely dispose them.

Dennis, 36, was arrested and charged with making the explosive devices. He was booked at the Martinez Detention Facility on charges of possession of a destructive device and possession of materials to make a destructive device. He is being held on a $650,000 bond.

Residents were allowed back into their homes after the bombs were disposed of.

  1. Wintergreen,
Your probably right. News articles say the guy nabbed for the pipe bombs was 36 and on probation or parole. The fellow in the earlier article was 34 in 2008 so this matches and at the time he was from Dublin. Sounds like this fellow can’t figure out how to get his life on track.

  2. Can’t get his life on track?!?

To the contrary, he appears quite firmly settled into the groove he’s chosen.

Is he employed? Did our tax dollars pay some or all of his rent there at the Amigo abode?? Was his parole officer making home visits???

This dolt has decided that he wants to be an agent of misery. Nothing we do short of a lobotomy will rehabilitate him.

  3. Boy, why is he loose? I hope they can pin more on him this time and get him out of the poor neighborhood, that got stuck with him. Life is difficult enough in our country, with such unemployment, money not there for the essentials in our state etc. without having to deal with such an evil person. Get him off the streets for good!

  4. do a google street view of 203 amigo road. you can see the man himself, home disrepair, beatup vehicles and a boat. its no wonder he lasted this long in such a nice neighborhood.

  5. Geeze, it looks like a scene from My Name is Earl; White trash at it’s best. The home probably belongs to a family member who continues to enable him. Really sad…

  6. Yes, it’s not easy living in this neighborhood where many of us are “normal” Danville folk with kids, real jobs etc… and then you get this “original owner” who not only refuses to get their home in order but deals with illegal and illicit things.

Let’s hear it for the folks in this neighborhood who chose to live here because of the “country feel” and very large lots, who have chosen to upgrade our homes and pull together when needed.

Thanks to all of our great neighbors who support each other in many ways.

  7. Hey Lon,
Nice ad hominem on the Taxed Enough Already (TEA)Party. If you feel you are not, the Internal Revenue Service(IRS)will happily take any additional funds you wish to send them!

  8. I can’t believe this guy wasn’t caught much earlier by the hidden motorcycle cops in town!! They are behind every tree, election sign and parked car downtown!! I know I feel safer

  9. Sending this men to jail for however long obviously isnt accomplishing anything. All we are doing is teaching him what not to do. WE ARENT TEACHING HIM HOW TO CHANGE!so we cant be surprised that he hasnt learned anything. I think if we were to give these kind of men some sort of schooling while they are locked up, like a rehab or a program to teach them how to live life normal. give them some kind of hope. so when they finally do get released there chance, of wanting to stay sober and to want to continue to better there life is alot higher. Just trowing them in jail for years is stupid! I think if there locked up anyways for what they have done wrong, the jails should take this time to work with the convicts to teach them or to fifure out why they do the things they do and how to fix whats really wrong with them.,,,,, i donno this is just what i think

  10. To all you soccer mom neighbors and too bored wannabe-block captain Dads…really though??? You guys have WAAYYY to much time on your hands! Did you ever happen to consider that maybe…just maybe he had nothing to do with what was already on the property? Or possibly this “arch neighborhood nemesis villian” was cleaning up that roach infested craphouse, and since on probation from some prior big-time hotel/plasma t.v. heist or scandal….some flat-screen tv ring…he just got screwed for being there? You guys should get a life AFTER you get all the facts on whatever current bashing mission your on…. SEE YA GUYS AT THE NEXT NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MEETING! 😉
