Danville' s redevelopment agency safe for now

The California State Supreme Court issued a stay on an important piece of legislature that could eliminate redevelopment agencies statewide. Filed by the League of California Cities and the California Redevelopment Association, the suit would stop Assembly bills 26 and 27 from taking effect.

Dear Editor,

The Town (City) of Danville must have a development/redevelopment program to provide permit and similar fees each year to pay the costs of a resident planning department. It is appropriate for Danville neighborhoods forum, in their distribution today, to ask if such services would be more cost effective as consulting fees and would neighborhoods avoid the invasion of Weber Ranch and Hap Magee development.

That seems to be an excellent question considering the authoritarian imposition of development by city planning and council unwelcome in Danville neighborhoods.

You might complete this story beyond the news release with presentation of the role of development/redevelopment fees in the city (town) budget.

I believe that investment in the pool is $500,000, not $5,000.

Just wanted to clarify that Penny is correct and the Town's contribution to the pool at SRVHS is indeed $500,000.
