Okay Danvillains, here's the challenge: instead of commenting angrily that our little burg should exclude those cheap-arse San Ramoaners from "our" parade earlier in the day -- let's consider instead how to collaborate up and down the valley, to manage the entire celebration of American's birthday as one coordinated event.

What's more American than pitching-in and problem-solving, after all? The Fourth of July is our best, most appropriate opportunity to demonstrate those skills and inclinations -- and then celebrate them!

You guys don't get it, the main expense component in the previous cost estimate was overwhelmingly overtime for the cops. They were not willing to donate their time in spite of their incredible pay and overtime exploitation the other 364 days of the year. Funny how there was around 20 cops and firemen at the Wind Festival standing around their trucks doing community outreach yet they are not willing to do so on the 4th of July.

Why should any police officer or fire fighter donate their time? I sure don't donate my time at my job- I get PAID. Our first responders earn their pay tenfold.
