Proceeds from this year’s run go to the Discovery Counseling Center of the San Ramon Valley, a local nonprofit that has been serving the community for over 40 years. The mission of Discovery is to enhance the well being and quality of life for individuals and families in the greater San Ramon Valley.
“We feel that there is a synergy between mental and physical health and this gives the community an opportunity to have families out together doing something that’s healthy and good for them,” Discovery Counseling Center executive director Kathy Chiverton said. “Devil Mountain Run helps us fulfill our mission of making sure that no one gets turned away from mental health services because of an inability to pay. It’s been a wonderful partnership.”
“Bringing back Devil Mountain Run and keeping the fundraising dollars local to benefit our community was an important decision,” founder of Katalyst Events Chris McCrary said. “We’ve seen first hand just how meaningful and impactful Discovery’s work truly is. Day after day the staff is helping children, adults, seniors, and families get through some of life’s most difficult challenges. The work they do is incredibly important and I am proud to put on an event that provides them with a platform to raise awareness and funds.”
