The town of Danville has brought back its community piano program after seeing success last year with the program created by students of San Ramon Valley High School students, Lauren Torchiana and Katherine Gillen, according to town officials.
Both students came forward with the idea of designing colorful pianos and collaborated with Grace McClure and Kelly Anderson to move the project forward. The students wanted to create the pianos in honor of the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department.
The outcome of the project was recognized by the town’s annual Community Service Awards and had won the Award of Merit in 2018. The group of students this year was presented with the chance to make a third piano and gladly accepted the opportunity to make the next piano.
Danville town officials said they highly recommend residents to come make their city more musical. They encourage residents to come take pictures and videos of the pianos and post them to Instagram by tagging danvilleparksca, livelocallydanville, or townofdanvilleca.
The three pianos will be located at the Danville Community Center (420 Front St.), the Danville Senior Center (115 E. Prospect Ave.) and Railroad Plaza (corner of Railroad Avenue and West Linda Mesa Avenue). They will be accessible to the public through Labor Day.

Hooray!! The pianos are back!! Thanks to all who make this a reality.
