I will be hanging up my hat, er blog, by the end of this month. I dropped out of teaching for University of Phoenix earlier this year and I’m getting ready to retire full time from blogging now.
I planned to retire my blog last March. I thought about that for about 15 minutes and changed my mind. Why? The election!
When I posted my first blog about Hanging up my hat, the primaries were in progress and we didn’t know who the two final candidates would be. Hillary was challenged by Bernie Sanders. I was a registered Republican at the time, but changed my registration to vote for Bernie in the Primary.
On the Republican side I liked Rand Paul. The Pauls are Libertarians, and when Rand didn’t win the nomination, I switched my allegiance to the Libertarian Party Candidate, Gary Johnson.
At the beginning of this year, when Donald Trump announced he was running for President. I, like many other voters, thought this was just another one of his attention-grabbing ego trips.
I was shocked dismayed that many voters were taking his grandstanding seriously. I wrote a later blog comparing Trump’s supporters with Hitler’s in Germany in the 1930’s. Despite objections from some readers, this was too close to being true not to worry about it.
So I wrote a blog to Donald Trump’s adult children asking them to get him to drop out. Well they didn’t and voters were given the worst possible choice between two awful candidates.
Now we face an uncertain future with President Trump! Will Trump keep his promises to his followers? Senator Elizabeth Warren is on the case to make sure.
I’m at the point where I don’t want to write about it or read about it or to even live through it. So now is the time for me to say “Adios” to the San Ramon Observer. I’m not sure what I will do with my time, but since I moved to Villa San Ramon, I have many options for activities, dining, and excursions. To paraphrase Jack Weinberg (now 76), “Never trust anybody under 70.” Oops Donald Trump turned 70 last June.

I, for one, will miss you Roz.
Although we had our differences, I always appreciated your insight.
Be well and enjoy the next phase in your life.
All the best,
Dan
Got to wander what will the world order be, over the next four years and there after.
Good luck Roz, I have always looked forward to your blogs and enjoyed all of them. I will miss not having them to read.
San Ramon's Erma Bombeck is retiring. Sorry to see you go, and wish you the best in the future.
Roz,
Thank you Roz, for providing a forum that has always been engaging and thought-provoking. You will be missed. Have a wonderful holiday season and a new year filled with joy, peace and health.

some folks like to keep a finger in the pot but I don't the yiddish expression…..I expect that the Roz will be back…in my humble opinion, it's a transitional period
Cholo,
You know me too well. I'm already planning to write another blog before the end of this year and I will probably have more to say next year. As the oft repeated but possibly bogus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_you_live_in_interesting_times Chinese curse says, "May you live in interesting times." Or as Bob Dylan sang, "The Times they are a changing." http://bobdylan.com/songs/times-they-are-changin/ Yep, I was listening to Dylan before hardly anyone knew who he was.
Roz
Dear Roz,
Continue to post or not, your decision and yours alone. If you enjoy it why not?
We dont have to agree on anything but I certainly think you have a voice that is valid and something to say.
Tom,
We always agree on animal welfare. There's always something people can agree on outside of politics. I will keep my hat handy for at least another year.
Roz
